We are Proud and Grateful to be Americans!
Our freedoms have come at a high cost and we honor the 56 men who signed the Declaration of Independence–an act of treason to the King of Great Britain and punishable by death. Our Founding Fathers pledged to give their lives, their fortunes, and their sacred honor for our Freedom and our Liberty.

Happy Independence Day!
In God We Trust and May God Bless the United States of America!

Grand Reopening of the Leslie Area Historical Museum
Sunday May 7, 2023 from 2-5PM on the main floor of the GAR Hall (107 E. Bellevue St.)

Please join the Leslie Area Historical Society and Museum to visit and tour the new museum location. The new main floor allows for more space of displays and exhibits than the previous location downstairs. Many months have been spent moving up to the new area and we are excited to be open once again to the community.

No cost to visit, donations are greatly appreciated. Food and drinks will not be provided to avoid any potential danger to the collections. The Historical Society will be open Thursdays and Saturdays from 11-2pm following the Grand Reopening.

Why ‘Old 127’? Because of the rich local history connected to transportation.

Old 127 Coffee will soon be located in the historic Fitzpatrick Garage which faces alongside Main Street aka Old US127. Built in 1926 as a Ford Garage, the building’s origin began with the iconic Ford Model T which revolutionized the country and put America on wheels.

In November 1926 a new highway numbering system created ‘US127’ at the exact time the Fitzpatrick building was being constructed. Traffic from Lansing to Jackson traveled through downtown Leslie directly in front of the building until 1956 when the modern interstate was constructed one mile west of town.

The photograph shows Leslie during the late 1930s and is facing south down Main Street at a time when it was also known as US127.
