Tasting Notes: very subtle Blueberry and blackberry aromatics with deep chocolate body and wood undertones. Medium body, low acidity, wine-like complexity from traditional natural processing.

Ethiopian Harrar undergoes traditional natural (dry) processing—coffee cherries dry intact on raised beds for weeks, allowing fruit sugars to pe*****te the bean. This centuries-old method, used since coffee’s discovery in these highlands, creates the bold fruit-forward character and appeals to customers exploring beyond washed coffees. The low acidity profile attracts customers who typically avoid bright African coffees but want origin diversity.

Sourcing Bulk Coffee from Ethiopia’s Birthplace

We source these wholesale coffee beans from small garden plots in Ethiopia’s eastern highlands, where heirloom varietals—the genetic ancestors of most Arabica worldwide—grow under forest canopy at high elevations. These aren’t estate coffees; they’re traditional garden coffees from smallholder farmers using cultivation methods passed down through generations. Our export partners pre-screen lots to ensure the fruit character you want without excessive defects. When you buy bulk Ethiopian Harrar, you’re connecting your coffee’s 1,000-year heritage.
