🚨 Heads up Wilson County – this is a long post, but it’s important. Please take a minute to read. 🚨 (Yes, the picture attached is from last year. No it hasn't snowed anywhere in Wilson County...... yet.)
Over the next few days, conditions are going to get rough. Overnight tonight, travel will become increasingly difficult and in some areas, nearly impossible.
If you have to be on the road, please be prepared:
🧣 Pack blankets and extra clothing
🥪 Bring food and water
🔋 Charge your phone
⛽ Keep your gas tank full
If you slide off the road or get involved in an accident, it may take first responders longer than usual to reach you due to road conditions. Please know Wilson County EMA and our partners have plans in place and will respond, but expect extended response times while crews navigate snow and ice safely.
A few more safety reminders:
🔥 Check heaters for damage before using them
🔥 Keep heaters on flat, stable surfaces
🔥 Keep them at least 3 feet away from anything flammable
🐾 Bring your pets inside (yes, we know there are those that thrive in this but not ALL of them do.)
🧥 Wear layers. These temps will be dangerously cold.
If you don’t need to travel, this is your official permission to stay home, drink coffee, and binge your favorite show. The grocery store will still be there tomorrow.
Please also review yesterday’s post about our warming shelter. If you see someone who needs a warm place to stay, call 615-489-9129 (warming shelter line only).
🚑 All other emergencies should still call 911.
