SKIP the CANNED gelatinous blob, THINK FRESH! this is so much better!

It's that time of year again, and we are making cranberry sauce for the Thanksgiving holiday.

Cranberry sauce recipe: One 12-ounce bag of cranberries; 1 cup sugar or sugar substitute such as Truvia (less if using substitute half to three-quarters cup depending on your taste; zest of one orange (set aside); juice of one orange; 1/2c water; one cinnamon stick.
*Place cranberries in a pot and add the water, juice from the orange you zested, sugar, and cinnamon stick. - see note below. medium heat, as the mixture begins to simmer/boil and the cranberries burst, start smooshing the cranberries against the pot sides. When the "sauce" thickens turn off the heat and stir in the orange zest.
Place in a mason jar and let the flavors meld together and keep in the refrigerator. The more you make it ahead, the happier the flavors mix. You can even use this spread on yogurt, ice cream, and toast.
*NOTE: you can add a hint of nutmeg, diced apples, and cut-up orange in addition to the above recipe. Add during cooking or for a crunchier texture after the sauce is complete and before putting it in a mason jar or other container.
ENJOY!

Need a side or appetizer for your Thanksgiving table? I'm Making this tomorrow to take to my daughters for Thanksgiving along with the turkey. Simple, easy, different, and FRESH!

EQUIPMENT
Food Processor

INGREDIENTS

12 oz fresh cranberries
2-4 tbsp maple syrup adjust to taste
½ small red onion finely chopped
1 jalapeño finely chopped
1 cup cilantro leaves finely chopped
1 cup cooked and cooled beets finely chopped (optional but absolutely delicious)
1 large garlic clove minced
1 large lime juiced
½ tsp salt
(optional finely chopped cooked beets) trust me its great!

To Serve Ingredients
12 oz ricotta to make whipped ricotta -
crackers (gluten-free if desired)

INSTRUCTIONS

Add the cranberries to a food processor with maple syrup. Pulse until they’re very finely chopped. Transfer to a bowl and add the remaining ingredients. Taste and season accordingly, adding additional salt, lime juice, or maple syrup if desired. (You can also chop all ingredients using the food processor).
Place in the fridge to chill for at least 30 minutes before enjoying. To serve, top each cracker with whipped ricotta and salsa, or let people assemble their own!

NOTES
I highly suggest serving this salsa with crackers, whipped ricotta, or whipped cream cheese.

Spread each cracker with a small amount of ricotta or cream cheese and top with the cranberry salsa!

Welcome to Culinary Comfort! Many may know me as an artsy type, but what many don't know is I LOVE TO COOK!

Over the years I have had people ask me to cook for them, some have requests (my lasagna for one), beouf (beef) bourguignon (Julia Child's recipe), soups, Beef Stroganoff, and things simple foods, like Johnny Marzetti, mac and cheese, and so many more.

I recently had a hip replacement and have finally regained my ability to move around! So what better time to offer culinary comfort to help you and your busy lifestyles. We are a little different in that we do not mass-produce a menu to guarantee fine flavor.

Give us a try! If you have something you love and don't want to mess with cooking send us a message maybe we will add it to our repertoire of culinary treats!

Buon appetito!
