SKIP the CANNED gelatinous blob, THINK FRESH! this is so much better!

It's that time of year again, and we are making cranberry sauce for the Thanksgiving holiday.

Cranberry sauce recipe: One 12-ounce bag of cranberries; 1 cup sugar or sugar substitute such as Truvia (less if using substitute half to three-quarters cup depending on your taste; zest of one orange (set aside); juice of one orange; 1/2c water; one cinnamon stick.
*Place cranberries in a pot and add the water, juice from the orange you zested, sugar, and cinnamon stick. - see note below. medium heat, as the mixture begins to simmer/boil and the cranberries burst, start smooshing the cranberries against the pot sides. When the "sauce" thickens turn off the heat and stir in the orange zest.
Place in a mason jar and let the flavors meld together and keep in the refrigerator. The more you make it ahead, the happier the flavors mix. You can even use this spread on yogurt, ice cream, and toast.
*NOTE: you can add a hint of nutmeg, diced apples, and cut-up orange in addition to the above recipe. Add during cooking or for a crunchier texture after the sauce is complete and before putting it in a mason jar or other container.
ENJOY!
