Still overwhelmed and smiling thinking about a recent client who wanted my cakes at her wedding in Cincinnati! It is still so surreal to me when this happens. I’ve been blessed to take my cakes to Valparaiso, Munster, Mississippi, and Ozark, Missouri. I know those places have amazing local bakeries, but knowing my clients chose mine anyway is the absolute highest compliment I could ever receive.Anyone can bake a cake, and people have even tried to recreate my white wedding cake recipe. But my clients always come back and say there’s just something different about mine. I truly believe it’s because for some, this is just a job—but for me, it is a passion filled with love and blessings. You just can't imitate love! This year has been incredibly hard, but my family and all of you are what have kept my chin up and kept me going.I’ve had the best inspiration on my path. From being 16 and making a sour apple pie that my Uncle Randy choked down and lied to tell me was "perfect," to being 21 in Texas learning how to make Chocolate Cream Pie from my Granny Bernice (I still treasure the notebook paper we wrote it on!). And of course, my momma Shirley, who did custom cakes and made my own wedding cake.To all of my clients: thank you for sticking with me, trusting me with your milestones, and letting me bake love into every single layer. Happy Thursday, and I hope you all are so very blessed today!
