Hey Revivalists ❤️
We have some HUGE NEWS we’ve been keeping to ourselves for way longer than we wanted to and the time has come to finally share it with you.
The Sheridans (that’s us) are moving for an amazing ministry opportunity with an incredible church in Galveston, Texas, called Church of the Living God Galveston. Nathan has been invited to be the worship leader at their two campuses and pour out his heart to the people on the island while also continuing his career as a recording and touring artist. Many of you may not know, but Nathan is a worship artist, and before having a coffee shop, we travelled around the United States touring as a family.
Because of this big transition in our lives, we decided to sell Espresso Revival. Don’t worry! We found the perfect new owner, Easton Veal, of The Forge Coffeehouse, who is accomplished, young, and motivated to keep this shop going and make it even more successful than it already is! We feel very safe leaving it in his hands and believe he is going to do great things.
It’s been almost 4 years since we started Espresso Revival and a year to the day since we opened our brick-and-mortar shop!
When we started our mobile shop, we only planned to do a few events, maybe work some weekends, and keep it very small. We wanted it to be a ministry opportunity and a way to give back whenever we could.
Being involved in the music industry made coffee a natural fit for us because coffee is such an integral part of creating music, being on the road, and touring and it was one thing we looked forward to every day while travelling.
When we opened our 6 x 14 coffee trailer in early 2023, we were complete strangers to Lawrence County. Not a single soul knew who we were, and we had zero connections to the town. We remember wondering, “Who is actually going to support this? Will it be successful?” It was honestly a huge risk.
Before we knew it, there was a real demand for us to be open every day, and we did everything we could to meet that demand. God blessed us beyond what we could have imagined. We made so many friends so quickly.
Our grand opening was honestly bewildering for us. People were lined up for hours just to try our coffee without knowing anything about us. Not long after, we had countless people asking if we would ever open a shop. So, after years of hearing that question, we finally did it.
We opened our brick-and-mortar and literally quadrupled the amount of coffee we were selling! That is not an exaggeration. Our grand opening must have been 20x bigger than the one for our trailer. We learned a lot from that day alone!
We have so much to be proud of. We went from a team of 2 (husband and wife) to a team of 8 overnight. We did it without investors, without financial backing, and without any safety net if it all went wrong. The only thing we had was faith that God would provide if we were obedient. From the outside looking in, it is an incredible accomplishment. But even with all of that, we couldn’t help but look around sometimes and ask ourselves: “Is this our only dream? Does this bring us total fulfillment?” We felt like while we were accomplishing so much, we were sacrificing other dreams that felt so important to us.
We love music. We love being on the road. We love meeting new people and having new adventures while being full-time in ministry. And as much as we have loved owning Espresso Revival and meeting and serving you, those other things we love are incredibly difficult to do while owning and running a food and beverage establishment. So, when this new opportunity for us arose, we genuinely felt like God was telling us, “It’s time, just do it.”
But there’s an added layer to all of this…you see…We’re not actually the ones who made this shop what it is. At all.
The dedicated employees who have shown up day after day, touched the line, served thousands of people, and raised the standard for coffee in Lawrence County are the ones who truly made Espresso Revival what it is.
Not us.
In fact, for the past several months, we’ve essentially let them run this place with very little input from us. We had to because life just got that busy. And they have absolutely crushed it!
So to Makenna, Gracie, Lincoln, Chloe, Audrey, and our former barista Ria -- thank you. You guys really have encapsulated what Espresso Revival is and should always be.
Thank you for always showing up. Thank you for caring. Thank you for being incredible at what you do. And thank you for becoming such an essential part of what Espresso Revival was always meant to be. We literally wouldn’t have made it through the last few months without you, and we’re going to miss working with you dearly. We’re so excited you are choosing to stay on this journey despite the fact that we may not see you nearly as much as we want to now. You have our numbers, and you can text or call morning, noon, or night. I think you already know that, but seriously, from here until the end of time, we are your friends and we’re always cheering for you!
To our incredible customers…
You are the only reason Espresso Revival exists and the reason it will continue to exist. Without you, there would be no business. No employees. No shop. No story. We know you have so many options for where you could spend your money, your mornings, your afternoons, and your time. But you choose to come here.
From day one, this little shop has somehow been a contender. And that isn’t because we’re the best, we had some incredible business plan, or any other number of subjective, meaningless opinions.
It’s because you made it one. You, the customer, chose to patronize us.
You showed up. You told your friends. You brought your families. You came back. You supported us when we were just a little trailer trying to figure things out, and you continued to support us when we opened these doors.
You helped turn something we thought would be a small side project into something big enough to support our family and to hand to someone else.
That is something we will never, ever take for granted.
We genuinely hope you continue to show up. We hope you continue to make Espresso Revival a place where people want to be. And we hope that many, many years from now, people are still walking through those doors, ordering their favorite drink, and having no idea just how much this little shop meant to the two people who started it.
We’ll still be around the shop for a little while as we help make the transition as seamless as possible. And we cannot wait for you to meet Easton and see all of the things he has planned to build on what has already been created here.
This isn’t goodbye to Espresso Revival. It’s just the beginning of its next chapter.
