Matt Axton Music concert in Lava Hot Springs Saturday, August 1st!
The Legacy: Matt is a double legacy with grandmother Mae Boren Axton co-penning Elvis' "Heartbreak Hotel" and his dad, entertainment 70's icon Hoyt Axton who had his own hits like "Della and the Dealer" but wrote chart toppers "Joy to the World - Jeremiah was a Bullfrog," "Never Been to Spain" and more. Matt's mother is a classical pianist who became Hoyt's keyboardist in the band.
And while Matt's early days were growing up on the tour bus, he actually learned to play music from his mom and an injury in college left him immobile with only a guitar in his hands to perfect his talent.
The Music: Matt has over 300 original songs. While influenced by his family's multi-genre nature, his music is intrinsically his own, featuring timeless themes, guitar harmonies and his signature baritone voice. He calls it mountain soul, rock and roll and has been likened to The Allman Brother's, Sturgill Simpson and Gary Clark Jr. In addition to a large social media fanbase, Matt tours nationally averaging 200 days on the road every year. He is currently on a 17 show run in Nevada, Montana, Idaho and Washington.
Community: Matt curates a free monthly Americana Music Series in Los Angeles and produces the annual 3,000 attendee free Tahoe Joy Music Festival all housed under his nonprofit, The Joy Foundation whose mission is to "support independent artists and strengthen communities through the creation of high-quality musical events and educational programs that celebrate music history, performance, and artistry."

Come out to support our wonderful local vendors, browse for fresh produce and artisan goods, and then claim your spot on the grass for an unforgettable evening of live music.
