Many of you may have heard about this true story that took place in 2015 while I was living back home on the Island of St.Croix. This story is one of the most profound experiences of my life.

That day I would witnessed two men being pulled in a ripe current at the Carambola Beach resort and instinctively attempted to save them. One of these men would become my friend Tedd Wallace , may he now rest in peace 🙏🏾.

A few years after this event Katharine Katie Mahalic reached out to me to hear and include my perspective in this story as she was working on her podcast series, Shadow Clock, now available on Spotify.

I really appreciate Katharines work which gave me a voice in this story. Despite the fact that this story made national and international news, being covered on every major news station in America due to the status of the persons involved. The main stream media did what they do best, and left my portion (the portion of a young black man doing a positive deed) and involvement in a mysterious hue. Not one of them attempted to Interview me on this story.

Beyond this, I believe stories like this have the potential to show more of the positive aspects of our nature as humans and that even in the face of certain demise, there is yet hope us as individuals and for humanity.

So, to all my friends and family, give it a listen, share and pay attention to the message in and of this story because it is one that is near and dear to my heart ❤️.

Listen to this episode from Shadow Clock on Spotify. As Tedd Wallace was sucked out to sea, he knew he was going to die, until two complete strangers, Bale Shabaka Kaza-Amlak and Sven Hill Matsen, did everything in their power to pull him from the unforgiving sea. Each of these men were strangers to...

I see and hear a lot of discussion about what people should and shouldn’t eat online. As an Ayurvedic Chef, this conversation is of particular interest to me.

Is it possible that there is no one particular diet best for all people?

According to Ayurvedic Understanding, this is exactly the case. Each person has a unique makeup or Dosha that no other person has, as a result each individual responds differently to foods depending on their body type and the qualities of a given food.

In my research I found this scientific study by Eran Segal where he studied a group of 1000 people and how their bodies responded to different foods.

If this topic interests you take a moment and watch his full video on the subject.

Prof. Eran Segal presented conclusions from the research on the TEDxRuppin stage and made us question common dietary beliefs. For additional information see h...

My Story

I was privileged to be able to grow up on the beautiful island of St.Croix, USVI.

My tribe is a Rastafarian family originally from Trinidad and Tobago that relocated to the Virgin Islands during my youth. As Rastafarians, we believe in the teachings of Emperor Haile Selassie of Ethiopia. It is also typically in our lifestyle to have a dominant or exclusive vegan, vegetarian, plant-based diet, and natural way of living in harmony with nature. Very similar to that of a Yogi lifestyle. Thus, I learned how to cook in a very natural and organic way. By harvesting fresh ingredients from my family farm and creating whatever I could imagine from the fresh herbs, fruits, and vegetables. When you are involved in the production of your food, you gain a more profound connection to, and appreciation of the food that we eat.

Between the ages of 16 and 20, I worked and studied at the Virgin Islands Sustainable Farm Institute. There I gained a vast array of experience as well as learning Permaculture and Sustainable living practices such as natural fire making. Much of this experience was in farming and building trades as an apprentice, though I would often cook for the crew when lunch hour came around. During my final year at VISFI, now Ridge to Reef Farm, I discovered Ayurveda and immediately found that it resonated with the essence of my being. As I fell in love with this ancient practice, I began to learn and incorporate Ayurveda into my life and Cooking.

From 2009 to 2015, I operated a well know wellness center on St.Croix. This center, Renuatum, included a Spa, yoga studio, Café, and Skincare line.
