It is with deep sadness that we announce the permanent closure of Terrapin Bistro.
Thank you for being part of Richie’s dream. Terrapin was everything he ever wanted. It was more than a restaurant to him. It was art, music, energy, community, laughter, creativity, and love all woven together into one little magical place by the creek.
Every detail mattered to him. Every plate that left the kitchen mattered to him. Every person who walked through those doors mattered to him.
Thank you to every customer who came in to taste Richie’s food. One of my favorite things was watching the look on people’s faces after that first bite — the surprise, the excitement, the “Oh my God.” His food was rare. He had a gift. He created flavors that people remembered. He was magical. But all of you made it real.
Thank you to the artists who trusted us enough to hang your work on our walls and help us turn Terrapin into something alive and inspiring. Thank you to the musicians and bands who supported us or applied to play in the future. Richie was so excited about building something creative and meaningful with all of you.
A very special thank you to Darlene Schmucker at B & D Creekside Activity Center for believing in Richie and giving him the opportunity to shine and truly live his dream. What you gave him meant more than words can explain. You are an angel, and we will never forget your kindness.
And thank you to every single person who has shown love, support, prayers, flowers, messages, memories, and compassion during this unimaginable time. It has carried us more than you know.
Richard Matsko was deeply loved. I know he can feel all of that love now.
Thank you for helping bring Terrapin to life, even for a little while. What was created there was real, and it was beautiful.
Forever grateful ⚡️🌹
