Good morning friends… today just smells like Freedom… I have so much to be thankful for on this Fourth of July.. if you had told me that 7 days ago that I’d be sitting here in my dining room watching outside and being grateful for the smell of coffee (even though I don’t drink it) and knowing that I beat a widow maker I probably would of just chuckled … dr told me I was one of the sickest well people he’s ever seen… he literally begged me to leave the hospital because you are surrounded by sick people lol…I’ve never been this weak… and dependent on anyone this much in my life… high fiving after going potty and hey … I’m walking! It’s funny in my mind sorry…so ask yourself these questions… why are you thankful for today… 1. God… yeah you are thinking that’s a no brainer.. well to a 65 year old man that wasn’t saved until 2 years ago … I get it! 2. Family… yeah you are thinking that’s a no brainer too… well that too hasn’t all was been great and now I don’t think it could be better… 3. You folks my friends! I love each and everyone of you and last but not least this great experiment of mankind called America! I love it so very much… I love the fact that true Americans have no problem standing together arm in arm embracing ideas, having conversations and working together and supporting each other… I’m gonna get better and try to make God smile everyday at least once… because he’s given me a cheesy y grin all the time!

Hi Friends,

I wanted to share a Fatguy (aka, Ray) update.

Last Wednesday, Ray went in for what was expected to be a routine procedure to check for artery blockages. During that procedure, the medical team discovered that one of his main arteries was 100% blocked. They immediately stopped the procedure and scheduled open-heart surgery.

On Friday, Ray underwent open-heart surgery at Vanderbilt Medical Center. We’re incredibly grateful to share that the surgery was a success. His surgeon, arguably the best in the country, was very pleased with the surgery! Ray has already moved from the ICU into a step-down room. We are beyond thankful to God for his cardiologist who recommended the initial procedure and discovered the 100% blockage, the surgeon and his skilled hands, the surgical team, and all the nurses, technicians, and caregivers at Vanderbilt to date.

Ray has a long road to recovery ahead, but we’re taking it one day at a time. We continue to give thanks to God and place our unwavering trust in Him.

Please pray for Ray and the village caring for him and supporting our family as he continues to heal.

📣 Hey Friends…big changes ahead! 📣

Fatguy is going mobile! 🚚

I recently picked up a food trailer and will shift to mobile operations in the next several weeks. While a big shift, this will allow me to build a more sustainable business and focus on doing what I love – cookin' up great food for my friends and neighbors. This transition will take a little time, but I’m learning to trust God’s plan and walk the path he’s placed before me. It’ll also give me a chance to catch my breath, spend time with my family, and build something with more flexibility…something this 65-year-old body sure could use.

Effective immediately the current location of Fatguy Southern Kitchen is closed.

We’re packing up and moving out to make room for a new tenant. This also means I’m going to be selling a few things. So, if you’re looking for a BIG OL' BULL (it’s a smoker) hit me up. I’ll post updates about Fatguy’s location/route, schedule etc. as soon as it gets ironed out.

Afternoon friends…. This afternoon got baked fish and pork belly … along with all our other Que… remember when it’s gone it’s gone so you can call us and let us know if you want us to sell you a plate! Fatguy’s thought for the day… I’m on that new diet where you eat everything that you want and then you hope for a miracle…
