Jones Dairy Farm was founded in 1889 and since then they’ve kept the tradition of presenting a resolution to their retiring board members.
I can’t believe I got to be part of that history.

Yes, sometimes I still have to pinch myself. Is this real life? I get to live life as an artist in the great United States of America and to be part of its Penmanship history?
I do and I’m so thankful.

The shipping didn’t go as planned but I still got to see them framed and kept pictures. How wonderful to think they hang today on their recipients walls.

It’s and this latina loves being a latina.

Multifaceted, I fill the stereotypes of my culture and I break them too.

We love HARD, we show up EVERY SINGLE DAY for the ones we love, we share, we dance, we are welcoming, we are colorful , we work hard, we hug hard, we are feminine, we love food and we love our language.

Feliz dia a todas mis latinas. Orgullosamente latinas 💕

Setting up my table again this year to make my nephew’s invitation and got reminded of last year’s. I drew him as a Disney cartoon character 🤭🤭

Every time my sisters have special events I make digital invitations for them but using original artwork I make.

It’s one of the few ways I stay close to my family back in Honduras.
I’ve never been able to make it to one his epic celebrations 😢 It really isn’t easy being so far.

This year the theme is Mario Bros.!!! Stay tuned. I will be posting progress on my stories.

Pro Tip for Beach En Plen Air painting : set an alarm for sunscreen application every hour CAUSE I DID NOT 💀

I loved it so much that I got sucked in the moment and totally forgot past experiences in the sun.

But I got to paint the famous Soggy Dollar Bar beach. The clearest water I’ve ever seen and I grew up going to the Bay Islands, so that’s saying a lot.

How could I not pull out the paint and brushes when you have those blues calling at you 😍🥹. Makes me feel incredibly privileged to call myself a painter.

Since I never attended art school, figuring out what to study to be able to paint this in person with a short amount of time has been one of my biggest challenges. But if you want to start learning here are some art concepts to study:
- Color Theory
- Layout and Composition
-Drawing : light and shadow
-Value Study (in hand with color theory)
-Perspective drawing
- And the characteristics of whatever medium you choose to use. In this case I used watercolor. But all the previous concepts apply to any medium and the more mediums you learn the more it all makes sense.

I hope this list helps you get started. I’m so happy I did because it has made me look at the world in a completely different lens and it’s a magical one.

Side note: I gifted the painting to the managers at Soggy Dollar Bar as a thanks for their exceptional customer service.

Turns out En Plen Air painting might be my favorite.

First painting of the week on my vacation, featuring Black Kitty (that’s her name), the feral cat of the house.
I’ve sat every day on the same spot while the temperature allows it, observing and painting in the most peaceful setting. One of the few times starting a painting has not given me anxiety.

I will call this “Black Kitty’s first trust”.

Thank you to all new followers.
I’m always amazed by strangers supporting my art.

My name is Andrea and I just turned 43.

I’ve spent the last two years recovering from trauma and navigating perimenopause; Trying to find myself again through the habits that always made me happy and serene ,and through seeing how much my loved ones love me back.

Also growing in my art through the never ending support of my husband Joel Reno He bought me my first set of brushes ( I never asked him for them he just somehow knew) around 8 years ago and I haven’t stopped. He changed my life with that simple act.

Once before my uncle did the same for me when he believed I could run a cake business. He changed my life too.

I can say I feel very happy even when accepting the changes in my physiology have not been easy.
It’s a weird age!!

Cheers to 43 years well lived, to working out, to eating GOOD , to being fearless in pursuing your dreams, to loving as hard as you can and to mental health through therapy 🥂

We are stronger than we even know and hanging on to your art might give you the strength you need.
