My sister, Joy, wrote the most perfect obituary for our extraordinary mom. I could not be more proud to be her daughter and I hope to love and serve others even a portion as well as she did. But it truly brings so much peace and joy to think about her being with her Savior. Our savior. Even those last 2 days when her body was here, her eyes never opened and we knew the time was coming...I would smile imagining her running into the arms of Jesus. And the reunion with others who have gone before her. I have liked the song "Homesick for Heaven" by Phil Wickham for a while, but now it means something different to me. I sat by mom Saturday morning and played that song. I cried so much. But then the last verse...
To see the ones I love, who've gone before
When death is a memory and tears are no more
To hear the angels praise, can you even imagine
I'll run as fast as I can into Your arms
'Cause I was created to be where You are
There's an ache in my heart
I'm homesick for Heaven
There's an ache in my heart
I'm homesick for Heaven
There's an ache in my heart
I'm homesick for Heaven
I could close my eyes and imagine it. My mom running as fast as she could into His arms. Hearing the angels praising Him...I shook my head and smiled. What a beautiful reality.
No more fears or pain. No more confusion. I hate to be cheesy, but our loss is most certainly Heaven's gain.
I love you, mom. π
