Originally from Laos, Chef Khim grew up in Columbus, Ohio. His love and expertise for the culinary arts was nurtured at an early age, and he honed his skills at Bangkok Restaurant (Columbus) for two years. Later Chef Khim went on to cook for a variety of Asian restaurants including Yuki Japanese Steakhouse (Columbus) and Oishii Fondue Hot Pot (Largo). In 2002 he opened his first restaurant - Thai Teriyaki Chicken Bowl.

In April 2014, Chef Khim and his wife, Chanel, embarked on their newest culinary adventure: THAI 5 Food Truck. Serving authentic Thai, Laos, and pan-Asian cuisine, THAI 5 was voted "Best Thai Restaurant in Tampa Bay" on Yelp, and even made Yelp’s “Top 100 Restaurants in Tampa Bay” list for 2015.

With their newfound success, in Autumn 2016 THAI 5 moved to a restaurant space in Autumn 2016. With a bigger kitchen, dining area, outdoor seating and ample street parking, THAI 5 can now serve delicious Thai food for years to come.

Chef Khim really enjoys cooking, and one of his greatest joys is seeing the smiling faces of his customers when they taste his amazing food.
