Recently, Ms. Janet Zapata from 550 Pizzeria invited me to be part of a billboard that asks a simple question:
“What if it all works out?”
That question is for anyone thinking about starting something, taking a chance, making a change, or taking that leap of faith.
But I didn’t take that original leap. My grandfather did.
57 years ago, he bet on an idea that became Quickie Bakery. That risk, and the years of hard work from my uncles, my aunts, my parents, and every past and present member of the Quickie Bakery team, is why we’re still here today.
I’m merely a representation of the present-day generation continuing to put in that work. My role may look a little different. Sometimes it’s making silly videos that make people smile. Sometimes it’s coming up with new conchas, breakfast ideas, or finding new ways to keep Quickie Bakery moving forward. But underneath it all is the same thing: you keep putting in the work.
Taking a chance doesn’t guarantee anything. But if you never try, you’ll never know. Failure is part of the process. If you’re not failing sometimes, you’re probably not taking enough swings.
There will always be more work to do. But sometimes, as scary as it may seem, you have to take that leap of faith and find out for yourself…
