I've been working in the bakery making Blueberry Sour Cream Coffee Cakes today. I'm getting ready to wrap and freeze them. They are great to have on hand for guests, special occasions, or just because you want one! Dwight & I just finished the one we had in the freezer from Thanksgiving & we want another! Give me a call if you would like to pick one up tonight or tomorrow or at a later date.

Happy New Year, everyone! I hope we all have a joyous, prosperous, and healthy 2025!
I spent a lot of time this past week looking at the bakery's pictures of this past & previous years. It certainly saddened me and made me miss the bakery. At this point, I still have not been able to figure out how to keep it up and running full scale and profitably without over-working myself. It still exists and has the potential to come back in the future. I miss all my wonderful customers & previous employees! Best wishes for a great year!

Hi everyone! I have been baking several wonderful holiday treats that you can purchase through Gelato & aMore and I will bring to Laramie for pick-up this coming Monday morning at Golden Prairie Bakery around 9 am. Call them for prices and to place your order. 970 -568- 8855.
Here are some descriptions:
Yule logs : Celebrate the Solstice and the Holidays with a festive Yule log! Chocolate Chiffon cake filled with Brandied Cherry Mousse, enrobed in Swiss Buttercream, decorated with White and Dark Chocolate Shavings and curls, Dark Chocolate sticks, Edible Holly leaves and Berries, and a Meringue Mushroom.
Gingerbread: A classic traditional favorite from Elizabethan times! Deliciously soft, moist and richly flavored with spices, molasses, brown sugar, and candied ginger. Extra specially topped with a lemon glaze and ginger. Festively wrapped - perfect for gift giving!
Holiday Truffles: packaged together
Creme de Menthe : A rich, fluffy Creme de Menthe truffle encased in Dark Chocolate, rolled Andes Mint Cake.
Peppermint: Rich Chocolate and pure Vanilla truffle encased in Dark Chocolate, rolled in crushed peppermint candy.

Good evening! This weekend I celebrate 7 years of the Golden Prairie Bakery! Once Dwight and I finished building the site and kitchen, I started the bakery endeavor all on my own (with important emotional support from Dwight). This weekend (actually just Friday – read on) is the last of the bakery as I have been running it and I am on my own again. Full circle. Important to note is that I will only be open on Friday this weekend. I have prepared a large selection of delectable treats for you! My how the menu has grown over the years! With the limited number of hours available to work this week, I thought of the most popular items to offer. I started with Lemon Raspberry Pound Cakes and Pilgrim Pumpkin Cranberry Walnut Tea Bread, then Blueberry Sour Cream Coffee Cakes (& minis), Vanilla Cinnamon Coffee Cake Squares, and my Cinnamon Rolls made with exotic cinnamon. I couldn’t possibly finish this avenue of my bakery dream without offering what has become so very popular – Black Forest Cherry Cheesecake and Raspberry Swirl Cheesecake, both available by the slice. I made Wild Blueberry and Palisade Peach Scones. I have my full assortment of pies (at least one of each – call early to reserve one) and several breads as well. I think that I’ve listed everything on the menu. If you can’t make it in tomorrow, I can reserve items for you to schedule a pick up at a later date. The ending of this bakery adventure (in its present form) is certainly bittersweet and I will miss seeing everyone on a regular basis. Thank-you so much for your patronage. (Trying to not have tears now.) The break I had and my return alone has solidified my decision. Good evening! As many of you know, I have decided to restructure my business plan. This week, our production has been in full swing, then we will be off for 3 weeks (some of it is vacation!), then I will be back in full production mode, making treats for the last weekend of October when we are celebrating Golden Prairie Bakery’s 7-year Anniversary! Thereafter, I plan to make Thanksgiving pies (please order yours as soon as possible so that I can prepare), and may make some savory items, favorites, Holiday items from time to time, and perhaps some special orders placed well in advance. I will make announcements on my page as the plan progresses. Now for this weekend! Starting with bread, I added Country Sourdough this week (since I want to freeze a couple of loaves too) and made a double batch of Sourdough Pizza Rolls. Since it is Octoberfest (in Munich, but hey…) tonight I made German Apple Strudel filled with Spiced Apples, Walnuts, Raisins, and Apricot preserve, on top of Chiffon Cake, more apricot preserve, and shortbread, encased in puff dough, baked to golden brown and topped with glaze. That was quite a project! This week, I made Banana Walnut Bread, and Hummingbird Cake – filled with roasted pecans, pineapple, & banana, and iced with pineapple glaze. We made our Walnut Pistachio Baklava, Blueberry Sour Cream Coffee Cakes, Carrot Cake, Morning Glory Muffins, and a new Turtle Cheesecake (slices). It is layered with cheesecake, chocolate cake, caramel, & chocolate ganache, and topped with pecans, toffee bits, chocolate chips, caramel, & chocolate ganache. Our Scone flavors are - never mind, they are all sold out, but ask as I am going to try to make more on Saturday. Hope to see you soon!

Good evening! With the onset of colder weather Soup Season begins! We made our rich and deliciously thick Chicken Tortilla Soup. Pick up a bag of El Charro La Poblanita Tortilla chips to accompany it! This weekend also starts Octoberfest in Munich Germany so I made German Chocolate Cheesecake. (I know that it is not actually German, but it is a decadent namesake!) I am slicing one of them to start and leaving another whole (until the slices are sold from the first cake) in case someone would like the whole thing for a celebration! Our vacation is coming up (beginning after next weekend) and my sister-in-law (who I will be visiting) would like some Mint Oreo Frosted Brownies so we made more of them! Stock up because we can’t let her have the whole sheet of them! I made my Sunflower Harvest Bread, which is made with autumn spices and butternut squash. I added some whole wheat flour and mixed the sunflower seeds into the bread this time for a healthier, heartier twist, but still topped them with our delicious brown sugar streusel! I will be baking our often-requested Seeded Oat Wheat and Honey Bread on Friday. Hope to see you soon!

Good evening! We worked this week to fill our stock pars for our yummy cookies and bars, including those frosted pecan bars, marble cream cheese brownies, raspberry apricot orange fig, and apricot peach date bars to name a few. (Check out the whole list & maybe try something new to you!) We also made more Carrot Cake slices and a big batch of Sour Cream Coffee Cakes, which we think came out the best ever! Remember that we have the El Charro Tortilla Chips and Kylito’s salsa which would be perfect for tail-gating before the game this weekend! We have been working on pie shells (which we do every week), but this week, our pies are in remembrance of a dear friend and customer that we sadly lost in an aviation accident, Kyle Scott. We are honored to be making some Mixed Berry pies for his loved ones this Saturday as this was his favorite flavor. We send our love and condolences out to his family and friends. I did not know him well, but he touched my heart and I can tell you that he was a joyous and wonderful person. He will be missed tremendously by all who knew him. We are closing at 5 on Saturday, but hope to see our other loved and appreciated customers soon!

Good evening! I hope that everyone is enjoying their short work week! We managed to produce quite a bit this week starting with our Bear Claw and Danish production on Tuesday and Raspberry Swirl and Black Forest Cherry Cheesecakes Wednesday/Thursday. We have the Black Forest Cherry Cheesecake available by the slice this weekend. We also made our Walnut Pistachio Baklava and a big batch of Italian Meatballs. I brought back Garlic Rosemary Sourdough loaves this weekend as well. Our fresh Quiche slices are Lorraine with Caramelized onions, Daily’s Bacon, and a mixture of Baby Swiss and Mozzarella Cheese. Our Scone flavors are by request: Blackberry Bergamot, Maple Pecan, and Wild Blueberry (2 Palisade Peach to be baked and available also). Our Sourdough Pizza Rolls will be baked Friday about noon. We have slices of Strawberry Rhubarb, Peach and Bourbon Pecan pies, and of course, a full variety of whole pies. We hope to see you soon!
