Ahoy Sailors! As you may know we have been closed this year due to the coronavirus. With the current configuration of the boat it wasn’t possible to keep everyone safe from covid-19 and cruise. So we have been working to reimagine the Michigan Princess so that it will be safe and fun even in the times of the coronavirus. We believe we now have a solid plan to reopen in spring of 2021. We have a lot of work ahead of us but with any luck we will be taking you for a cruise in 2021! Stay tuned for more details in the coming months.

The Detroit Princess Riverboat is hiring Deckhands to work on the ship the summer!

Have you ever wanted to work on the water? Interested in a career on the Great Lakes? Just looking for a cool place to work this summer? You should consider a Deckhand position on the Detroit Princess Riverboat!

A Deckhand does the following:

Carries out duties assigned to him/her by the Captain of the ship and other management.

Handles lines to tie-up and un-tie ship.

Customer service - greeting and assisting passengers at boarding and throughout the cruise.

Safety duties and drills- assisting passengers in the event of an emergency. Assisting with remedying possible onboard emergencies such as fires and persons in the water. Participating in Emergency Drills.

Security of the ship

Assisting in the safe navigation of the ship. Maintaining a look-out for hazards on the river.

Moving tables and chairs for banquet operations.

Painting

Cleaning

Vessel deck and engine maintenance and repairs

Must have a smiling face and a good attitude. Working on a passenger ship requires good customer service skills.

The job can entail long hours (12+ hours), lifting, climbing many flights of stairs, rolling heavy trash bins, etc.

Must be drug free and have a clean criminal record. Must be able to pass United States Coast Guard required drug testing and be able to obtain a Transportation Workers Identification Credential.

$14 per hour. Weekends are required. Part time positions available 30-40 hours per week. Seasonal. We are looking to find candidates to start now. DM us for details or head over to our website-
