June Drink Special: The First Brick šŸ³ļøā€šŸŒˆ

Our drink special this month is part of a fundraiser for Lansing's local Salus Center, as well as The Trevor Project. The Salus Center has been serving Lansing’s LGBTQIA+ community since 2017 through advocacy, support groups, and as a resource hub. The Trevor Project is a large-scale resource for LGBTQIA+ youth-- focusing on su***de prevention. 10% of The First Brick drink sales, and 100% of our PWYC coffee sales for the month of June, will be evenly split and donated between Trans-ilience and The Trevor Project. You can also donate right at the register with our baristas.

If you'd like to learn more about them as a resource of information, we'll have the links posted on our page soon. We highly encourage that you check out their latest efforts and publications because they update every year.

Being a safe space for our community is at the core of who we are as people and a business. The coffee and LGBTQIA+ communities walk hand in hand and there is no room for hate here.

The First Brick is our first matcha drink special EVER! It's an iced matcha sweetened with lavender syrup, then topped with with a gojiberry & cranberry cold foam. Only available this June so don't miss you chance to try it and contribute to our fundraiser :)

Single origin espresso is officially available at 517 Coffee Company ā˜•ļø

You can now order a single origin espresso to sample or substitute into your favorite coffee forward drinks! We’ll be featuring one single origin at a time— roaster's choice-- perfect for espresso, cortados, and americanos.
Expect brighter acidity, unique sweetness, and flavors that stand out in a different way than our Ransom Blend espresso.
Our first feature will be the Ethiopia Hambella, a washed process bean tasting like dried berries, apricot, and black tea. If you’re curious about different espresso profiles, come in to try it!

ā€œFor Hereā€ drinks are now available at the 517 Coffee Company cafĆ© ā˜•ļø

This location originally started as a small roasting space with just a counter to sell coffee bags. We’re incredibly proud of how it’s grown into a full espresso bar and space for people to hang out.

Choosing your drink ā€œfor hereā€ means enjoying it in a real mug or glass — giving you a chance to slow down, stay awhile, and help reduce disposable cup waste. :)

Stop by this week and ask your barista about having your drink ā€œfor hereā€!

**We will also make your drink in (clean) mugs you bring from home**

Have you tried our May Drink Special yet? The Pear Maple Latte features a latte with pear & maple syrup, then spritzed with xocolatl mole bitters. It has a lot of richness and depth!

**a note on xocolatl**
Xocolatl (pronounced sho-koh-lahtl) is a Nahuatl term from the Aztec civilization meaning "bitter water" or "bitter drink," derived from xococolli (bitter) and atl (water). It was a sacred, frothy, and unsweetened beverage made from crushed cacao beans, water, and spices like chili pepper, revered as a stimulating drink for warriors and nobles.
