Scoop's was originally built in 1923 as the "Pulver Brother's Sinclair Filling Station". It is the oldest surviving "filling station" in the mid-Michigan area. This small building was officially added to the The National Register of Historic Places on August 3, 2016. Quite an honor for this small place! There are only about 30 listings in Lansing on The National Register, which is the official list of the Nation's historic places worthy of preservation. Authorized by the National Historic Preservation Act of 1966, the National Park Service's National Register of Historic Places is part of a national program to coordinate and support public and private efforts to identify, evaluate, and protect America's historic and archeological resources.
