Unknown sources say that Leo and Ginger were friends with Frank and Teressa Bellimssimo the original owners of the Anchor Bar in Buffalo N.Y. Did you know that Buffalo Wings were invented by a woman? Teressa was in the kitchen one night and a group of her sons friend’s came in to eat at the Anchor Bar. She was asked to whip them up something. She grabbed some chicken wings that would normally have been given to the dogs deep fried them, threw her secret sauce on them and Buffalo Wings were born! Leo and Ginger saw the fast-growing trend and decided to take it to the south. Unfortunately, at first chicken wings were not a big hit. Did you know that the famous Leo’s medium wing sauce was also made by a woman? That is right! Ginger Roche created our signature wing sauce. While we think it is amazing that Leo Roche inspired just about every wing restaurant in the south. And if you look at the history of most wing restaurants you will find that many owners mention Leo, we think it is dang cool that the wing history started with women and has been carried on by women at the heart. What came to South Carolina as a traditional buffalo wing has been evolved into its own creation with its own roots and traditions. This specific franchise came directly from Susan and was passed down to her son Adam. It is now in the hands of two very dedicated women that have worked directly under Adam for years. They hope to bring many more decades of legacy and tradition to the Leo’s name. They are off to a running start by naming the Leo’s Wing "The Cakalacky Wing." While we know Leo's does not serve a traditional buffalo wing and never has. Leo’s Wings are a tradition in their own right. It is a southern traditional wet wing, it has a twang and zing, it's messy and a little dirty. In Lancaster South Carolina Cakalacky Wings are the best wings.
