Hi everyone, I hope this note finds all of you well and cool during these hot summer days. First I would like to say, No, I have not sold the restaurant/property but the development group is still showing interest, I will keep you posted on that point. As you know I've been wanting to share items from the restaurant with anyone who might enjoy a little memory of Joe or their special moments at the Heron. My efforts at auctions or an estate sale simply have never worked out. While those doors closed one door recently opened, the door to Hope House. While, like many others, I've dropped off personal items at Hope House but about 6 weeks ago I had a thought to Partner with them to help me accomplish my task of moving memories into the hands of those who would be happy to receive them. For the past four years i have been overwhelmed with the physical and emotional weight of wanting to pass along so many items yet not finding the right avenue to do so. I had no idea my journey would lead me to Hope House but it's already proven to be the perfect match. The Mission of Hope House βTo Offer Hope and Help to Those in Need Within Our Community as an Expression of Godβs Love and Care!β. The funds from their thrift shop help many people in many ways but also supports their food pantry. Without even knowing about the food pantry before I called them, I've realized it was a perfect connection for all of the many meals Joe served at the lake since 1961, he now will continue to help to support Hope House in their effort to feed those in need. The staff at Hope House is truly the most kind and giving group of people. They have been so caring of me, respectful and understanding of not only the enormous size of this task but also the importance of moving Joe's legacy forward. I simply couldn't do it alone but they have stepped in and lended so many helping hands to accomplish this task of Love. I truly feel he is happy with my decision as he has been sending his specific Angel Signs to me every day. Yesterday I hired Best Light Hauling, and in this heat, they spent over 5 hours with 2 trucks moving items from the Heron to Hope House and to a storage locker at Store Local (on 242) which was so graciously donated for a couple months by Drake the owner. There was a large crew waiting at Hope House to receive these items and begin the timely effort of unpacking and organizing. I've kept quite a few items like the large metal Herons ( i think there were one or 2 little ones that went to the sale), all of the paintings, the Potted Steer sign, the front doors, some specific furniture, the Delft Blue items from Holland and the wine and liquors as all of these memories will find a place in our home. But please know there is still so much more that was donated. This weekend I will get some photos and post them so you can get a glimpse. You can also go to Hope House's page. There are many dishes, someone might find joy in having something as small as a crouton dish to now hold their rings but still remember their croutons from the restaurant. The bust of the lady that was always in the womens restroom, some tables and chairs from the patio, so many nick-nacks he had sitting around as decoration, the tie backs for the curtains I made, Dessert menus and Bin Remnant Wine menus, tables and chairs and just so much more. You may see the familiar rolling carts on which the food was brought to the tables, I happily gifted those to Hope House. They will never be for sale but will remain at Hope House helping them in their effort of sorting anyone's donation in the future, i hope it makes you smile to see them and perhaps stir a memory. I will not have time to field questions or inquiries about the items but Hope House will be able to help. I hope you all know how happy I am to finally have found a way to get these memories to you, Im sorry it has taken me so long. I'm most joyful for the love you have had and continue to have for My Darling, Joseph Boer and for all the memories created with him. I know he was loved and is still missed by so very many. Love to you all!! π The sale will begin Monday August 5th, I hope it brings you joy. πππ
