From Angie, at 3 Monkeys Bakery
I don't have it in me right now to go into all the details, but due to some major intimidation tactics from my landlord, which ended in my calling 911 today. The landlord sent his child in to video the shop (“for insurance purposes”) with absolutely no warning and his child barged behind the counter- which I told him he can’t do. The child went out, and the landlord sent him back in several times! The child kept trying to come behind the counter to video. It was bizarre and scary. The customers in the shop were alarmed and stood in front of me and the counter entrance while we waited for the police😭. Of course the police said he can’t do this(obviously) and sent him away. I am rattled and very tired.
Because of this, I'll begin packing up tomorrow & Sunday. The door will be locked but if you'd like to stop by feel free to knock and I'll let you in for a big hug.
I may actually need help -we need to secure storage unit first -just waiting for call back.
Lake community, what a blessing it has been to get to know you and serve you.
I hope to open in a new location soon.
Thank you for all your love and kindness.
XOXO Angie

As you can see, this has been an absolutely heartbreaking situation. Angie had to bury her son several weeks ago. To have her income cut off so abruptly, in a time of grief and hardship, and then to lose her beloved shop. It’s too much. Then to have to spend money on storage and finding a new place, it’s just a lot for her to handle.
Angie paid for the shelving, lights, appliances, furniture. If anyone has any old light fixtures hanging around, we need to replace the beautiful Lottie lights with something so we don’t leave the shop with no lights. If you know of an electrician that would help, that would be nice too. If you can help remove the shelves and anything off the wall, that would be helpful too. We have already spent money with attorney’s and Angie can not afford much right now. But if you have some tools, and some time, I think it would help her so much. Please contact her directly!
She also doesn’t know I am putting this here, but as one could imagine, an abrupt loss of income will be devastating for her. If you feel the need to give to her Venmo, I’m going to drop it here. No pressure at all and she didn’t ask me to do this. She has been nothing but a wonderful tenant, invested in the community. We feel partly responsible to help her get out as safely and on the best footing as possible.

There’s nothing quite like the Lotawana community. We are forever grateful for how you all supported us especially during Covid when we could have easily not been able to sustain. But instead, we shined! We paid our employees and we were able to serve the community well. Thank you for the memories and Thank you for how you showed up for us! 🖤🤍✨
