As we continue celebrating this special season at Harnden’s Dairy Bar, I wanted to bring something fun, sweet, and full of memories to our restaurant — funnel cakes.
For me, funnel cakes feel like celebration. They remind us of fairs, family nights, small-town traditions, and the simple joy of sharing something warm and sweet with the people you love.
Harnden’s Dairy Bar has always been about more than food. It has been about family, community, memories, and keeping traditions alive while also adding new things for the next generation to enjoy.
My parents, Mr. Harnden and Dorothy Harnden, started this restaurant in 1952 with hard work, love, and a heart for serving people. It is an honor for me to continue their legacy and bring new memories to the same Dairy Bar our community has loved for over 74 years.
We are excited to introduce funnel cakes at Harnden’s Dairy Bar, and we hope they bring smiles, memories, and a little extra sweetness to your day.

As this 4th of July weekend comes to a close, my heart is full.
This celebration was more than fireworks, food, and a holiday weekend. It was a reminder of what makes America so special — faith, family, freedom, sacrifice, service, and community.
Harnden’s Dairy Bar was started in 1952 by my father, Mr. Harnden, and my mother, Dorothy Harnden. Together, they built more than a restaurant. They built a place where families could gather, children could grow up, grandparents could bring their grandchildren, veterans could sit and be honored, and memories could be made one meal and one ice cream at a time.
This weekend, as we honored the 250th anniversary of the United States Declaration of Independence, I could not help but think about my father’s service in the United States Navy during World War II. He was part of a generation that understood sacrifice, hard work, duty, and love of country. Those same values are the foundation of Harnden’s Dairy Bar and the legacy I am blessed to continue.
The video we are sharing is very special to our family because it honors my father’s World War II Navy photos, his service to our country, and the legacy he and my mother started right here in Lake Jackson.
To every customer, employee, veteran, family member, and friend who has been part of our story — thank you. You are the reason Harnden’s Dairy Bar is still standing, still serving, and still filled with memories after all these years.
It is an honor to continue my parents’ legacy, and I am deeply grateful for the love this community has shown our family and Harnden’s Dairy Bar for over 74 years.
