Owners’ Chris and Nici Scharpf, came up with the dream of Trampers while traveling in New Zealand. On our three month journey we spent many nights at different camp grounds in our tiny camper-van named the, “Bodhi”. It was in South Island, a small

town just south of Reefton at the Slab Hut Creek site; where we came across an old steampunk-ed brick oven and immediately fell in love. Shortly after we did a work exchange with a lovely couple (Steve & Fenella) in Kurow, whom owned a small B&B/Vineyard; where Fenella served up fabulous three course meals to their guests. We began making pizzas in their brick oven, and served up pies to their friends and family. When we returned, Chris built a fancy brick oven/grill in our backyard. After entertaining friends with homemade pizzas, we were wanting to travel around and sell our pies. Encompassed by the help from a friend (Robyn Smith, owner of Gypsy Soul Food Truck), and a very cool couple (Steve & Lisa) whom formerly owned the Minglewood Pizza trailer; we purchased Trampers Oak Fire Oven, LLC. In short, Bodhi is a Sanskrit word in Buddhism that translates in English with the words enlightenment or awakened. One could say, our NZ journey awakened our dream to work for ourselves, while creating delicious food, and meeting new people. We are very excited to introduce you to our new business and get them pizzas rolling!
