Remember my little Halloween cake experiment? Wellllll… things didn't go quite as planned! 😂

The berry mixture looked beautiful, the discs were frozen, and I was ready to see that dramatic bleeding effect. But getting the consistency just right? That's proving to be a little trickier than I expected!

The flavor is there, the idea is there… now I just have to figure out the technique. 😉

Because let's be honest, not every experiment in the kitchen goes perfectly the first time. That's how we learn!

Can I make a cake bleed?🩸

🎂 THE BLEEDING CAKE EXPERIMENT: PART 1 — THE BLOOD! 🧪😂
So, a fellow baker was looking for someone brave enough to attempt a bleeding heart cake for her customer. Apparently, all she heard was crickets. 🦗🦗🦗 Well, y'all know me… sometimes all it takes is a challenge and a little curiosity! 😂 So I said, LET'S GIVE IT A SHOT!

Welcome to my little experiment, where we're bringing chemistry into home ec and seeing just where it takes us! 🤣

First up: THE BLOOD! 🩸
I made mine using fresh raspberry and strawberry juice. I didn't want corn syrup or anything else diluting that fresh berry flavor, and honestly? I LOVE the color! ❤️
Next step? Into the freezer it goes! And yes… that IS my deviled egg tray. Don't judge my laboratory equipment! 😂🥚🧪

Since I'm experimenting on a mini cake first, and I've never attempted this technique before, I figured smaller blood pockets would be the way to go. The tray seems to be working perfectly so far… but let's not get ahead of ourselves! 😆

They need to freeze for 24 hours, so we're playing the waiting game! Will this work? Will we have a beautiful, dramatic bleed? Or will this turn into one of those well, now we know what NOT to do moments? 😂

Stay tuned for Part 2! The mini cake is waiting, and this little baker is about to find out if her experiment is a sweet success or a delicious disaster!

This sweet baby girl’s cake holds a special place in my heart. 💕 The original idea was one thing, but when Mom shared that she had designed the baby shower invitation herself, it inspired me to take a completely different direction! I used her beautiful artwork as my inspiration and created a cake that brought that vision to life. And hearing how much she loved it made every minute worthwhile! 🥹💖

The sweetest part? Getting to create something special for a baby girl and put my heart into every detail. And the wonderful review afterward was the icing on the cake! 🎂

At Donna’s Cake Cottage, I believe a custom cake should be more than dessert. It should be personal, meaningful, and made just for YOUR celebration.
