Have you visited Gouda Games and noticed that we rarely post pictures of our guests?

That is intentional.

At Gouda Games, we believe a safe third place should feel comfortable both on and off camera. Whether you are having a difficult day, feeling anxious, enjoying time with your family, meeting someone for a first date, or simply playing a game, our cameras will not be pointed at you.

Our social media will focus on our games, our space, and the experiences we create. Guests will only be featured on rare occasions and with their clear permission. You are always welcome to photograph and share your own moments here, while respecting the privacy of those around you.

Since opening on August 1, we have welcomed full rooms, busy days, trivia teams, families, friends, and new connections. You may not always see those moments on our social media, but they are happening, and they mean everything to us.

To every person who has walked through our doors, played a game, attended an event, shared our posts, or supported this dream, thank you. You do not have to appear in our spotlight for your presence and support to be deeply appreciated.

You are welcome to gather, play, connect, and simply be present without becoming content.

Okay, I finally got this week’s events together and added all the details to our website! We have something a little different happening every day, but our full game library will still be available during every event, so you can always come in and play whatever you want.

WEDNESDAY
Golden Girls Trivia from 6 PM to 9 PM

THURSDAY
Strategy Night from 4 PM to 10 PM
Casa de Ajedrez meets from 4 PM to 8 PM

FRIDAY
Friday Night Game Mixer from 4 PM to 10 PM

SATURDAY
Family Challenge from 11 AM to 10 PM

SUNDAY
Sunday Funday Mystery Game from 11 AM to 10 PM

We have puzzle events, more themed nights, and plenty of other ideas coming slowly but surely. I would love to have an entire month planned ahead, and that is my goal for September, but right now we are taking it one week at a time, learning what works, and building something our community actually wants.

Have you ever heard of a “third place”? Your first place is home, your second is work or school, and your third place is somewhere you can simply gather, connect, and feel like you belong.

That is exactly what we want Gouda Games to be. Although we are still waiting for approval to offer prepared food, we are already here as a safe, welcoming place to play, laugh, meet new people, or spend time with the people you love. Food service may be part of our future, but community will always be at the heart of what we do.

Hey, we promised you constant updates, and we meant it! We've been hustling behind the scenes, and we just added some upgrades to our space TODAY! PLEASE KNOW THAT THIS ENTIRE SPACE CAN BE AVAILABLE DOWNSTAIRS. (more info in the comments.) Come check us out this weekend, we're open 11 AM - 10 PM.

It is officially too hot outside, but the ac is keeping up in here. 🙌 Y'all are welcome to come on in, relax, and escape the sun!

We are currently working on our Mahjong space. It is definitely a work in progress with a lot more exciting updates to add soon, but we wanted to get some seats set up right away....even if they are just temporary ones!Come check it out, say hi, and cool down with us. We can't wait to see you!

[Edit to add....Our upstairs area is currently designated as an 18+ space, but we want everyone to know that the experience is not limited to the second floor. Because the upstairs space is only accessible by stairs, the tables, games, and setup can be brought downstairs into our open area or private rooms to accommodate guests who cannot access the upstairs space.

If you are reserving a table and need an accessible setup, just RSVP or make your reservation and note the accommodation request so we can have everything ready for you.

And if you are specifically interested in the adults only atmosphere, we will also be hosting designated Adults Only nights, when portions of our downstairs space can be used for that same experience]

We’ve officially been open for two weeks, and we thought it was time to give you a little tour of the space we’ve been working so hard to create. We’re always adding, changing, and finding new ways to make Gouda Games feel even more welcoming, but this is a little look at what you’ll find when you walk through our doors.

We hope this video helps explain a little more about who we are and what we’re creating here in Lake Charles. Our goal has always been to build a place where you can put down your phone, spend time together, play, laugh, and feel at home.

Ditch the phones and do something different tonight!!! Our Battleship tournament is officially on.

Player Matchups:
Perfect for a unique date night, catching up with friends, or an easy night out after dinner. All friend groups, couples, and families are welcome.

The Rulebook:
Game Fee: $5 per person (covers your Game Pass for the night).

Check-In / Last Call: 6:30 PM (to finalize brackets).

Tournament Start:
7:00 PM sharp.

Duration:
Single-elimination bracket system with a strict 30-minute limit per round. Fast-paced and quick....unless you keep winning your way to the top.

How to Enter:RSVPing online helps us get the tables and brackets set up perfectly for you, but walk-ins are totally welcome too.

Tag the friend or partner you are bringing with you tonight. Who are you sinking first?
