Dearest friends, team members and guests,
After much deliberation about how to reopen and survive in the COVID era, we have concluded there is simply no real viable path forward for Whisknladle. Sadly, and unceremoniously, Monday, March 16th, 2020 was her final service.
While Whisk was a physical extension of our homes and our team members and guests an extension of our family, Whisk was also an ideal.
Instead of ranting about COVID or the many other challenges facing our industry that led us to this difficult conclusion, we’d rather take this opportunity to thank everyone that walked through our doors all these years starting with our team members. It’s been your hard work, talent and charisma that made Whisk, you know…Whisk.
What has always meant the most to us throughout the last twelve years was the enduring support of our loyal guests. Finding a way to make you happy with food, service and hospitality was always our greatest reward and truly our privilege. We are grateful for you and humbled you chose to spend your first dates, anniversaries, wedding celebrations, the good times and the bad times. All of your precious moments spent with us all these years have made our little neighborhood bistro into a home. So truly, from the bottom of our hearts, thank you, thank you, thank you.
While we had dreamed Whisk would be one of those institutions that could withstand the test of time, 12+ years in restaurant terms, is something we can be proud of. Now more than ever, we urge all of you reading this to find ways to support your favorite restaurants or local businesses so that they have a fighting chance.
However sad, this is by no means goodbye.
We hope you’ll join us at Catania in La Jolla or Gravity Heights and Park Commons in Sorrento Mesa as soon as we’re able to resume full service or consider ordering takeout in the interim. No matter where, when or how you dine with us, please know that we are as committed as ever to trying to live up to the Whisknladle standard.
Humbly yours,
Arturo and Ryan
