When we first walked through the old shoe shop last year, we knew we wanted to honor the history of the building while also bringing some modern updates to it. We anticipated a lot of work, but we thought there was a chance we would be able to save the 134-year-old building. After looking closer and realizing just how bad of shape it was in, we made the decision to tear down the building and start with a fresh slate. Our plan was to replicate the front facade, as this was one of the characteristics we really loved about the old shop. The new floor plan is also similar to the layout of the old building. The name “Cobbler’s Mug Cafe” is a nod to the history of the old building being a shoe shop for the majority of its time. The first picture is the original building, and the second picture is how it’s looking today. We look forward to showing you more of our cafe as we continue working towards an opening date.
