Hi everyone, I usually keep our charitable work off the ‘gram, but this is something different, and important. I come from a filmmaking background. I studied film, and worked in television for 17 years creating graphics and visual fx for documentaries. I did not get rich by working in the entertainment industry, in fact most of the people who do this kind of work do not become wealthy with the exception of a fortunate few. Most of the people that work in entertainment in fact put in grueling hours, give all of their passion and the majority of their time to participate in a creative endeavor that they love. At this time, the entertainment industry has seen major changes, upheavals, strikes, protracted fights for fair living wages, and technology advancements altering the perceived value of their hard earned skills. This upheaval has gone on for years now, and many of these wonderful hard working people are losing housing, their livelihoods, food security, and hope as they wait for a return to normal. Today we donated some of our coffee to the mutual aid food pantry This pantry helps entertainment workers bridge the gap and provides much needed food for those in need. Thank you for being so gracious and kind while I fumbled through making our donation. Food insecurity is real right here in Los Angeles, and I encourage everyone if you have extra to donate to ANY pantry in your community. Give what you can how you can so that everyone can live with dignity. Caring for each other is the best way we can be as humans to each other.

A long journey indeed, starting last February with a forward commitment… happy to finally have this coffee in hand… we are excited for what is next. The work is doing with in is nothing short of astounding. The attentive processing and quality control levels up your notion of what Indonesian coffee can be. This will be our second season carrying these unique and delicious coffees with hopefully many more to come.

We hope everyone is enjoying their holiday time with family and friends this week. It’s a perfect time to sip a coffee, play a board game, watch a movie, or whip up treats in the kitchen. On we hope you remember to shop small, and support small businesses like when gifting this season. We work hard to bring you great coffee, and appreciate your stories and comments and posts when you let us know you are enjoying it. This year we have taken a leap, a stretch, and will be offering two coffees on the rarer and exemplary side in our gift box. The quality and flavor of these coffees is out of this world. The Colombia Casablanca is a Gesha variety, a subspecies of arabica. It’s hard to grow, has low harvest volume, but the flavor derived from this coffee is unlike any other. The tastes are like, fresh fruit juice, lilac, cherry, white peach. The Costa Rica San Rafael is a washed coffee that goes through an anaerobic fermentation. This special fermentation amplifies flavor. You will taste distinct notes of cinnamon, gingerbread, caramel, hibiscus, and pear. If you speak in brew ratios and own a modest shelf full of hand brewing devices, this is the gift box you have been waiting for from . We are really excited to offer these coffees to you. We hope you will be just as thrilled to drink them.

Greetings coffeesmiths… keep an eye on the site, as we roll out some special coffee for the holidays. The first to hit the anvil is the third addition to our Hephaestus Series. This is a super limited run of one of the tastiest coffees from Kenya that we have had all year. We taste flame grape, blackberry, and candied orange peel. It is a stellar coffee, and probably won’t be around for long once you taste it and start telling your friends about it.
