VIKING UPDATE 2 of 2: Now this is SUPER SUPER SUPER cool. Andrei stops in a lot, and he keeps promising a Viking burger for his home country. Today Andrei finished a Viking and it's our first EVER from Romania. Cool right? It gets better. Andrei's friend Yigit also finished a Viking and he's from Turkey. If you count the USA, Spankys has had Vikings eaten from people representing 17 countries. This is the list of the countries. Note, we only count each person from a country once so if it says eight, that means eight different people from that country.

When Mrs. Spanky and I were young (she’s still young) we waited tables. Every year we saved a LOT of money which is how we eventually bought land for our restaurant and built a restaurant. All of our coworkers made a lot of money as well, but by the next season many were broke. I remember thinking, “What did you do with all that money you made last summer?” Life isn’t as much about how much you make, but your ability to spend wisely. You don’t have to suffer, but don’t waste. Although we don’t drive it on long trips (anymore), we still drive Mrs. Spanky’s 4Runner which now has far more than the pictured 500K on it. For over two decades Mrs. Spanky didn't have a car payment, think about how much $$$ that equates to.

YES OR NO: The grass fed dry aged Cowboy burger has been selling off the charts (literally). We can get in a ground pork belly from the same farm and grill it like a burger. It would be super juicy, but this is pork instead of beef so is this something that you would order or not? It won't hurt our feelings either way, if there's interest we bring it in and if there isn't, we don't.

Find your quote: Happiness is a battle; sometimes you have to remind yourself to see the cup as being half full. I keep the quote, “Happiness is a choice that requires effort at times,” written by Aeschylus about 500 BC. I shared this with a young lady yesterday; a few minutes later she returned with a quote that she saved and reads a lot; “Thieves don’t break into empty homes. The devil wouldn’t come for you as hard if there wasn’t something valuable in you!” I really like that quote. Often the kindest people seem to have the hardest times finding happiness and that worries me. Finding happiness is tough; you have to find things or words to remind yourself that the world is a good place; it is, but it’s also easy to forget. I sometimes wonder if people say, “Mr. Spanky keeps preaching the same message on happiness.” My answer would be, “Yes, I do; it’s that important.” Spread the word, share a positive quote, be kind to your neighbors.

Three top selling specials at the same time. First off, we have the Korean Beef which is great over rice ($9.99) or cheese steak style (8.99 half - pictured) or (12.99 full) with fries. We also have the hand breaded calamari with fries for $9.99. Finally, we have the Cowboy Burger. The Cowboy burger has been a huge seller, so this is the third time we've had to bring it in over the last week and a half. The Cowboy burger ($9.99) is a 6oz cheeseburger with fries; the meat is fresh, from North Carolina, grass fed and dry aged for 50 days. You can really taste the difference with this meat (check out the picture of what the beef looks like when it first arrives).

Two days after Azalea was born she didn’t go straight home from the hospital, instead she stopped by for a to-go order, first. Azalea’s Mom is Hannah. Hannah’s uncle is our cook, George. More trivia: Hannah was and still is the youngest girl to ever eat a Viking; she was nine a the time.

Mr. Spanky loves to write. I probably write, because I have so many thoughts, I can’t keep them all inside of my head. One thought is this. If every person on the planet was given a piece of land with a magical house and garden that provided all the shelter and food you needed and each of your children would eventually be given the same, well, it wouldn’t be long before people starting plotting on how they could have their neighbors land even though you wouldn’t need two houses and twice the land AND your neighbor would be left homeless. I just can't see a society where everyone is happy with what they have. I think that the trick to improving as a society is recognizing and pointing out our bad habits and working towards improving ourselves.
