**MULTIPLE ANNOUNCEMENTS, CLOSED 8/14 - 8/29. ***
Warning, a lot of information to follow:
It is with a heavy heart that we write this, but feel the need to inform our customers of changes happening to Galare very soon. Our family (Mark, Tisha, and the kids) has been presented with a new opportunity that we have chosen to accept, and thus will be moving on from Galare Kingston. When we first opened 8 years ago (wow!), we never expected to have so many great things happen to us during our time in Kingston. We came here as a couple of young adults and have since grown into a family of four with many other changes along the way. We couldn't have done it without the support of our loyal base of customers, who have been so patient with us during the ups and downs of two childbirths, losing full-time staff that ultimately was never fully replaced, and now for the last year all the fuss over COVID related restrictions.
We will be closing for a couple weeks starting this Saturday 8/14, to assist in the transition with new staff into the Kingston location. The new staff is coming from our mother restaurant Galare Thai Sequim (including my mom Suree, who is the actual business owner and driving force behind Galare) and are already very well-versed in the operations of our restaurants as they are ran almost identical to another, so there hopefully will be very little missed (besides the kids :( ).
As it relates to our most recent post about kitchen equipment issues, we have unfortunately still been unable to resolve this dilemma. For full transparency, our non-wok stove had a gas leak and caught fire a week ago, we were fortunately able to isolate this fire and prevent further damage to the rest of the kitchen, but very obviously should not return it to operations until it is carefully inspected and serviced. I have called 4-5 different places and nobody seems to be able to service kitchen equipment as it relates to the gas issue. We are still diligently working toward a solution, but be aware this may linger into our transitionary period of closure, and hopefully be resolved by re-opening.
Lastly I just wanted to say thank you again to everyone who has supported our family for nearly the last decade. Especially during this last year of COVID, we were fortunate enough to not be forced to close down or take a major hit to our operations like so many of our peer restaurants, and the community showed us they appreciated our presence with their continued business and support. All the people we have met during our time here will always be special to us and we hope that you can continue your support of Galare with other members of our family present.
