Dear Woodsman Family,
This is one of the hardest messages we’ve ever had to write.
The Woodsman is closing effective immediately.
We’ve been fighting as hard as we possibly could — against finances, against slowing traffic, against the stress of running a small business that just doesn’t see enough people walk through the door. And with Alyssa’s health still keeping her from being able to work, we’ve run out of road. We wish things were different. We wish heart and grit were enough. But the reality is, they’re not.
This decision has shattered us. We poured everything we had into this place, and you — our community — poured your love right back into us. The only reason we made it as long as we did was because of your kindness, your loyalty, your generosity, and your belief in us. You kept us going when we didn’t know if we could keep going ourselves.
To our regulars — the people who showed up every day or every week without fail, the ones who made this place part of their routine, who brought joy, laughter, stories, friends, and family through our door — we want to say this clearly: we will miss you the most. You filled this place with life. You gave us purpose. And we will deeply miss seeing you week after week, building the kind of connection that only happens in a small-town café with familiar faces.
To everyone who donated, shared our posts, showed up for meals, brought friends, or simply held us in your hearts: thank you. Truly. The only reason we lasted this long was because of your generosity and your belief in what The Woodsman stood for.
A few housekeeping notes:
All remaining funds collected for our community meals will be given directly to Annie’s Market to support and expand their free meal program. In addition, all of our dry goods and current food inventory are being dispersed among local food pantries and food assistance programs, ensuring that every last bit of what we have continues to serve our community.
We also know that for many of you, this place holds history — childhood breakfasts, early-morning laughs, first jobs, family traditions, moments that reminded us all what “home” feels like. We understand how much is ending today, and we feel that weight right alongside you.
We don’t have the right words for what we’re feeling right now, but we do know this: we are grateful. For you. For every moment. For every plate. For every conversation. For every bit of love you showed us.
Thank you for being part of our story.
Thank you for loving The Woodsman.
With love, grief, and deep gratitude,
Alyssa and Jen
