06/01/2026 Market Report
1147 Total, 774 Cattle, 331 Gts/Shp, 18 Horses, 23 Pigs
You will not really notice any changes in this week's market from last. Slight changes in the 6/7 weight heifers. Nothing remarkable.
There are, however, a few things that everyone in the cattle business need to be mindful of.
*At the top of the list, and what I am sure everyone has heard about by now, is the New World Screw Worm. There is lots of false information out there but the screw worm could potentially be a real problem. There is no real reason to panic at this time as there is not really anything we can do about it. State lines are still open for transport but just be aware that there could be restrictions or other changes coming in the future as officials continue to monitor the situation. Our suggestion to our customers is to spray for flies, worm, and closely monitor open wounds on ALL livestock.
*The other things to be mindful of when deciding when is the best time to market your cattle are the trade deals that have been made. These deals can and probably will affect our live cattle market at some point. When and how? Those are the two questions to be answered. Brazilian beef imports increased by 21% in the first quarter compared respectively to last years'. This has been in an effort to fill the gaps on a shortage of American beef. This trend is expected to continue at least until our herd numbers are replenished.
The flip side to this is that China has agreed to purchase $17 billion worth of American Agricultural products annually for 2026, 2027, 2028. This includes beef.
Upcoming closures: We will be closed June 27th -July 3rd. We will be open to receive cattle on July 4th and 5th for the July 6th sale. Please pass this word!!
Thank you all for your business!!
