Here’s a little Saturday story for you! 😊
We received mail the other day addressed to “ Hiring Manager“. Little does the sender know that our hiring manager does not live at a known address like this!
Years ago, when we first began at D’Lites, we started out working with only our own family, but then we ventured into the world of hiring a number of part-time staff.
As young staff grew up and got married, or moved away, or went to college, we realized that this could be a challenging ongoing task, to keep D’Lites staffed with people who had a heart for the café and the people of Kilgore like we did.
I knew that larger companies have a hiring manager. So I figured I would go right to the top, and ask God to be our hiring manager. Each time we have a vacancy, it has been so exciting to see how God has brought the next member of our team into our lives!
As just one example of many, a few years ago, we had a couple months advance notice that Whitney would be moving. Whitney worked a few days a week, she knew how to make soups, make bread, run a shift when she was needed, and loved God and loved people and it showed. This time, when I realized we’d need to fill her spot, my prayer was that God would provide us with someone that was a bit older than the young teens that we often hire. I asked for someone that didn’t really need the income that a full-time job would offer, since this would be only a few days a week.
Several weeks before we really needed to replace Whitney, I got an email “out of the blue“ from a young mom. She explained that she did not really need a job, but was a homeschool mom who was just looking for a little extra income. I had a chance to meet her, and we hired her, and God answered that prayer above and beyond what I could’ve asked for ! That’s the way He works!
We’re so thankful for Erin, who is such an asset with her cheerful spirit, and her capable bread baking, soup making, and leadership skills. She loves God, loves people, and it shows! And as a bonus, her daughter now works with us as well!
We’re thankful to be able to bring all our needs, whether at D’Lites or at home, to God…our Creator, Sustainer, Equipper, Lord of all, and He even looks to the needs of a little cafe in East Texas! ❤️
