We’re Kilauea Bakery, formerly known as Pau Hana Pizza and lovingly called “the bakery”. Established in 1991, we take pride in being the longest standing eatery in old Kilauea town, where you'll find die-hard regulars and smiling staff who have been with us for decades. Enjoy a fresh bagel and a hot coffee, dive into a book from our donation-based library, challenge a friend to a game of chess, color in our chalkboard, and stay up to date with our current events board. We encourage you to login to the original social network — community. Here, we make everything in-house, from the sauces, fillings & dressings to our signature doughs using 40 year old sourdough & lactic starters. One affectionately named “Boris” and the other “Natasha“, derived from wild guava. We’re known for our innovative recipes like turning local ulu (breadfruit) into delicious gluten-free breads and pastries, for our vegan cakes that are so good they rival traditional ones, for our signature poi malasadas that are made using local Hanalei taro, and more! We’re committed to supporting our farmers by buying local and to serving our community with the freshest, healthiest food and pastries. proudly deemed Kauai’s Employer of the Year in 2020. To put it simply, we love what we do, and we love to serve everyone who strolls into our humble little historic plantation home turned bakery.

Oh, sweet relief for Kīlauea town. Fireworks and cheers and hot showers and the big lights on full blast. Thank you to everyone working so hard to get the grid back up and running. Thank you to the many people in our communities for being something to someone. Kaua’i sure does know how to take care of each other. Wainiha and Ha’ena next! 🙏❤️‍🩹

We are re-opening our doors for you tomorrow, Saturday 9/19, with a limited menu and hours. Serving you as many pastries as we can, lattes, and bagels and cream cheese, and maybe more (who knows!) No lunch or pizza yet, starting from scratch over here but hopefully Sunday!

We couldn’t have done it without you all. Thank you for supporting your local bakery since 7/4/1991, it’s 35 incredible staff, and it’s first 5 years under new local ownership. We wanted to give back to our community. Your drip coffee, cookies, and pau hana club hats are on us tomorrow! See each slide for details. Hanalei Poi Malasadas made daily!

Plain (no filling) comes out around 9am and filled (haupia, raspberry, matcha, ube) come out around 10am! You can always call to reserve, but malasadas are not available to order before 9am. They are part of our second wave from the bakers, which includes cookies, bread loaves and any specials for the day. ⭐️
