Frozen Pelican, known for its shaved ice and good food, features coastal charm with a relaxed beachy vibe, nestled in a perfect location on the east edge of the Melrose Historic District at 854 North State Road 21. It’s a full circle moment considering the Frozen Pelican opened at 130 SE Nightingale Street in Keystone Heights in 2013 before eventually closing its first storefront in 2015 due to family tragedy and medical issues. Since then, the owners ,a USMC Veteran and KHHS Alumna, have returned to the brick-and-mortar setting in Melrose and have seen great success. The restaurant offers a variety of delicious meals, including smash burgers, hot dogs, pulled pork, french fries, nachos, cheesesteaks, BLTs, and more. For dessert, The Frozen Pelican also offers 16 flavors of hand-dipped ice cream, shaved ice, and ice cream sundaes. Patrons can enjoy indoor seating or the dog-friendly outdoor seating area equipped with co****le boards. The restaurant was awarded the 2024 Voters Choice for Best Burger and Best Fries in the Tri-County area and has been featured on the State of Florida's official tourism website.
