I’ve been meaning to make this post for a while now, and I apologize that it’s taken so long. There has been a lot going on behind the scenes.

First, I want to thank everyone who has been checking in on me, reaching out and asking when Country Roads Pub will be reopening. The support truly means more than you know. You guys keep me going. Been plenty times I been ready to throw the towel in a couple times now but the support and community and my moms DNA in me giving up isn’t an option!

Some of you know that I have talked to, I did have to let go of the crew that was working on the building, as well as my former “business partner.” There is currently an active police investigation, so out of respect for that process, I’m not going to comment further on the situation at this time. Once the investigation is complete, I’ll be able to share more about everything that has happened.

The good news is that I’m moving forward. I’m currently in the process of purchasing the building, and once that’s finalized, I’ll have a much better timeline for reopening. With the help of a few great people, and Top Coat Technicians we’ve already completed a lot of work inside, and I’ll post some progress pictures down below. I know everyone is excited for Country Roads Pub to reopen, and believe me, I want it open just as much as all of you do. It’s been one of the most stressful times of my life, but I’m not giving up.

On January 22nd, our restaurant and bar suffered a devastating fire. These past few weeks have been incredibly tough, but the amount of love and support we’ve received from this community has meant everything to us. Thank you to everyone who has reached out, shared kind words, checked in, and continued to stand behind us.

The rebuild is officially underway and the crews working on the building are absolutely crushing it. We’ve attached progress photos so you can see how far things have already come. If everything continues on schedule, our current estimated reopening timeline is 2–4 months, and we’ll keep everyone updated every step of the way.

We also want to address the GoFundMe that was started by one of our amazing employee Kendall Knotts! While we are fortunate to have insurance for the building and equipment, the funds raised will go directly to our staff who lost their jobs and income because of the fire. If you’ve donated or shared it, thank you from the bottom of our hearts. If not, your support, patience, and encouragement are more than enough.

From the very beginning, when we first opened our doors, we had big dreams of creating something special — not just a place to eat and drink, but a place where friends, family, and the entire community could come together, make memories, and feel at home.

Me (Garrett Crites) and my business partner Jordan Glotfelty are beyond grateful for the support. We have always looked at this place as more than a business — it’s a gathering place for our community, our friends, and our families. That hasn’t changed. If anything, this has made us more motivated than ever to rebuild, come back stronger, and continue serving the great town of Keyser and the surrounding areas with the food, atmosphere, and hospitality you deserve.

This place means everything to us, and so do the people in it. We will not give up. We’ll be back, and when we reopen, it’s going to be better than ever.

Today has been one of the hardest days we’ve ever faced. We have lost almost everything. We are truly devastated and honestly lost for words right now.

From the bottom of our hearts, we want to thank our community for the overwhelming support, kind messages, prayers, and love you have shown us. It means more to us than we can ever put into words. We ask that you please continue to keep our staff and our future in your prayers as we begin to navigate what lies ahead.

We also want to extend our deepest gratitude to the brave men and women of the fire departments who responded so quickly and worked tirelessly to put the fire out. Their courage and dedication will never be forgotten.

At this time, we ask that everyone please stay off the property for safety and other necessary reasons. We appreciate your understanding and cooperation as we work with officials.

While the damage is heartbreaking, the only thing that truly matters is that our staff, everyone who was in the building, and the first responders are safe. That is what we are holding onto right now.
