Bad Monkey Season Two is coming up.....
For those who remember, the casting call was held at the iconic Half Shell Raw Bar, and parts of Bad Monkey Season 2 were also filmed right here in Key West. While Hollywood may have tried to recreate the magic of Key West and the Half Shell Raw Bar in Tinseltown, there's simply no substitute for the real thing. Friday was oyster shell pickup day by Everglades Oysters. The Half Shell started to recycle our oyster shells two days a week in April in May we started seven days a week. Since then, the Half Shell Raw Bar and Everglades Oysters have trucked 25,912.11 pounds that equals 12.9 tons of oyster shells out of Key West they will be curing for six months until they are used for many environmental applications.

Before the oysters, cold drinks, and good times, there was shrimp. 🦐

Half Shell was originally a shrimp warehouse before becoming a restaurant in 1972, right as Key West’s shrimp industry made its move up to Stock Island.

Since then, Half Shell has been a longtime favorite of fishing captains, locals, and visitors alike, staying true to its roots and becoming a true Key West icon.

More than 50 years later, we’re still proud to be part of the history that makes Key West so special. ⚓️🦪

Key Of Bones Curse of the Ghost Pirate Premiers October 2nd & 3rd at the Tennessee Willaim Theatre. Directed by Tony Armer the film was shot totally in Key West including the Half Shell Raw Bar.

The film follows a Key West waitress, a ghost-tour guide, and a visiting tourist who accidentally awaken a centuries-old curse tied to the infamous pirate Anne Bonny. This triggers a wave of supernatural chaos, including mischievous ghosts and vengeful spirits, threatening to turn Key West into a battleground between the living and the dead. The trio must race against time to break the curse before the island is consumed by paranormal mayhem, blending horror, comedy, and adventure

A new record was set today, Everglades Oysters picked up 11 / 32-gallon bins of oyster shells totaling 2145 pounds of oyster shells from the Half Shell Raw Bar. Seems that when it is a slower week in Key West our customers eat more oysters. The oysters are heading northwest to Everglades City and are not going into any landfills. Then after six months of sun, they will be used for an assortment of environmental projects.

Ever wonder where all the Half Shell's recycled oyster ends up? They are placed at a garden nursery in south Florida by Everglades Oysters. The Half Shell averages 3 tons of oyster shells each month. That is 6000 pounds of oyster shell that do not go into a landfill.
