Finally got the roaster issues fixed and roasted 4lbs of coffee today. Kirsten Carlson Tarnowski this one is for you! This is another coffee from Costa Rica but from a different farm and a different processing method so I am so excited to try it!

Did you know that when you roast coffee and the roast is almost complete it sounds like popcorn popping? This is called “First Crack”and it happens because as the bean expands, the steam creates pressure that results in the bean cracking open. Turn the volume up on this short video and you will hear the cracking and be able to see the color of the beans change until they are finally dropped in the cooling tray.

Another roasting day! Just waiting for her to warm up. Will usually take about 30-40 minutes to warm up depending on the current weather and another 30-40 minutes for cool down once the roast is complete. Kirsten Carlson Tarnowski this one is for you!

Finally back to roasting! Almost had a fire last time we roasted. Think we have the problem fixed now and will be checking throughout the roasts today to make sure everything is working as normal. Hope everyone had a WONDERFUL Thanksgiving yesterday and able to enjoy the holiday weekend! 🍁☕️

We are roasting again!!! Just waiting on the roaster to heat up to 400 degrees and we’re ready to go!!!

16 roasts in 2 days! That’s a lot for my little roaster! For everyone that has ordered coffee, from the very beginning until now, thank you all so much for your support! Our very first roast was September 2017 and since then we have done 279 roasts! That’s a lot of coffee!!!

We got a new Costa Rican to try next! This coffee has chocolate, red grape and lemongrass tasting notes. I cannot wait to roast this one!
