If you’ve had swimming lessons here at the Bloomfield City Pool, you’ve probably heard these phrases before! 💙🐠

Many people think swimming lessons are just about learning strokes, but for our littlest swimmers, it’s so much more than that. We focus on building confidence, independence, and life-saving habits that can make all the difference around the water.

These are great phrases to use anytime you’re at the pool with your little one:
💦 “Caterpillar, caterpillar… get to the ladder!”
💦 “Water, wait!”
💦 “Stop. Turn around. Pull the water.”
💦 “Find your feet.”

We also teach important safety reminders like:
✔️ Make sure your big person knows where you are before you get in the water.
✔️ Only let your big person take off your life jacket.
✔️ Always check the water depth before entering.
✔️ Know your safe zones and stay where you can be successful.

The more children hear these same words at lessons and during family swim time, the more natural these safety skills become. Water safety starts with repetition, and together we can help build strong, confident, water-smart swimmers! 💙🏊
