🏠 Guess who's home?!
As amazing as this trip was, there really is no place like home.
Being gluten free, I always enjoy traveling to the East Coast because it seems like everywhere has gluten-free options. It's fun getting to try new restaurants and foods without having to worry so much. What meant even more to me, though, was how thoughtful my extended family was throughout all the wedding festivities. While there weren't any gluten-free desserts (which was a little heartbreaking 😆), I was spoiled with gluten-free pizzas, salads, an incredible short rib dinner, and so many other delicious meals. It may seem like a small thing, but when people make the effort to include you, it means a lot.
Being away from my kids for the first time also taught me a few things:
🤣 My clumsiness reaches a whole new level when I'm on vacation (pretty sure I tore my hamstring).
🍹 I definitely can't drink like I'm 21 anymore.
❤️ No matter how much my kids test my patience some days, I missed them more than I ever expected. They are my whole world, and coming home to their hugs made everything feel complete again.
This getaway was something our family needed for a lot of different reasons, and I'm so grateful for the memories we made, the family we got to celebrate, and the chance to recharge a little. But I'm equally grateful to be back home, back in my kitchen, and back to doing what I love.
Now it's time to hit the ground running! We have a busy week ahead as we prepare for a wedding dessert table and the MAD Gluten Free Festival.
If you're in the Madison area, come see us Sunday, June 7th, from 3–6 PM at Breese Stevens Field. We'd love to see some familiar faces and meet some new ones too! 💙
