30 Years of 3C’s Catering – Part 6: Where It All Began

The beginning of 3C’s Catering came down to a combination of opportunity, timing, and a willingness to take a chance. Robert knew he didn’t want to work for someone else and began considering several possibilities, including a small bakery and a banquet facility. When a local caterer decided to sell their equipment, the opportunity made sense—and the vision for 3C’s began to take shape.

Robert’s parents were fully supportive of the decision. After retiring from dairy farming in April 1996, they sold the farm equipment and finalized the purchase of the catering equipment in June. By July, renovations were underway to transform the dairy barn into what would become the home of 3C’s Catering.

Just five months later, the vision became a reality. On December 6, 1996, 3C’s Catering held its open house, welcoming more than 400 people through the doors. The photos accompanying today’s post are from that original 1996 open house—capturing a special moment at the very beginning of the 3C’s journey.

What began with an idea and an opportunity had quickly become a new family business—and the first chapter of a journey that would span three decades. As we continue celebrating 30 years, we’ll keep sharing the people, decisions, and milestones that shaped the 3C’s story.

30 Years of 3C’s Catering – Part 5: Continuing the Story

As we move into the fall, we’re picking up our 30th Anniversary Story Series and turning our focus toward the milestone ahead. In just a few months, 3C’s Catering will celebrate 30 years in business—three decades of serving customers, supporting our community, and building a business grounded in quality, service, and family.

In the spring, we shared some of the people and experiences that helped shape our beginnings. From now through December, we’ll continue sharing the stories, milestones, memories, and people that have contributed to the 3C’s journey.

Thirty years brings change, growth, and evolution—and even our logo has a story to tell. The graphic accompanying today’s post features some of the 3C’s logos used throughout the years, offering a visual look at how the business and its identity have evolved along the way.

Thirty years is a significant milestone, and we’re honored to celebrate by reflecting on where we’ve been, the people who helped get us here, and what lies ahead.
