We said goodbye to a dear friend, Mr Soos. We were all so saddened to hear about the news of his passing. He was a wonderful man full of kindness and determination. He was never just a customer, he felt like family. Everyone at the Michigan Deli couldn’t help but love him. He was so kind and giving of his heart that for weeks he would proudly come in with his favorite rye bread for my daughter Katie. This was the kind of man he was. You would mention one thing, he would remember that, then put it into an act of kindness. We have so many more fun and beautiful memories that we will always treasure. He was such a proud family man and loved bringing his family members along with him. For a while, Saturdays became his breakfast day with sweet Sarah, his granddaughter, and he so proudly adored this bonding time with her over breakfast. He will always be remembered as a core part of our “Michigan Deli Gang”. Mr Soos, your Michigan Deli seat will always have your name on it along with your coffee mug. He will truly be missed by all. May God bless his family and loved ones during this saddened time. Rest in Peace to our Mr Soos 🤍🪽

Big thanks to Nico DeLuca, one of this week’s Michigan Deli Athletes of the Week, for stopping by and enjoying lunch on us! ⚾️ Thanks to Kenilworth for allowing us to highlight the amazing accomplishments of our local athletes!

“Nico is a senior at Brearley and has played baseball for 14 years and held the position of catcher for ten. His best sports memory was coming in second place in the Boston Open. Nico’s other hobbies include hanging out with my friends, golf, and working out. He recently was also a recipient of the prestigious Brian Piccolo Sports Award. After graduation, he will attend Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge to major in finance. 

“Nico has been our starting catcher for the last four years” Head Coach Dave Kaplow said. “Before Nico, Quinn Lonergan was our catcher who is now one of our assistant coaches. I’ve been spoiled as a head coach not having to worry about the catcher position for the last eight years. Nico is a natural leader behind the plate, and he has improved immensely every single year. He has been such a weapon for us behind the plate and has bailed us out of numerous jams by throwing out would be base stealers. Having a great catcher is sometimes taken for granted, but we greatly appreciate everything Nico has done over the last four seasons. He will be greatly missed when he graduates.””

Best of luck to Nico and all of the other Brearley graduates as they take on their bright futures! 🎓

Thanks to our Brearley Athletes of the Week, Robert Gable (golf), Giovanni Facchini (golf), and Antonio Esposito (baseball), for stopping by to enjoy a winning meal on us!

“Robert is a senior at David Brearley and has played baseball from the time he was five years old until his junior year. “I’ve always enjoyed golf for fun and decided to join the team this year. It was a great decision. My favorite golf memory is playing in a match for the first time.” Robert’s other hobbies include hanging out with friends, and he enjoys going to the beach or fishing. Robert also has two jobs. After graduation, Robert will be attending West Virginia University, where he will major in accounting.”

“Giovanni is also senior at Brearley and has played golf for the high school team for one season but has been involved with the sport for a few years. He also has been playing ice hockey since he was just four years old. “My favorite sports memory would probably have to be winning a big hockey game last year to make playoffs with my best friends.” After Brearley, Giovanni plans on studying finance and marketing to become a stock trader.”

“Antonio is a senior at Brearley and has been playing baseball for 13 years. “My best sports memory was playing baseball in the Dominican Republic for team USA. It was an amazing experience!” When Antonio is not playing sports he enjoys spending time with friends. After graduation he will be attending college in the fall and plans to pursue a career in law enforcement. “Antonio is so versatile in the field and can play all over” Head Coach Dave Kaplow said. “He earned a spot on the underclassman all star team last year and continues to be a huge part of our lineup. He will be missed after he graduates this year!””
