FARMERS MARKET TOMORROW 27 FEB. 2021

Be sure and visit the Farmers Market on Grand Parkway tomrrow morning from 8 a.m. to noon. Chai's Kitchen will be there with the usual variety of jams, jellies, pickles, sauces, granola, curry spice blends, and more.

The Farmers Market is located at 1225 W Grand Parkway S, Katy, TX 77494 in the parking lot of the Church of the Holy Apostles.

HAPPY LUNAR NEW YEAR - Day 15 meal

Tonight's meal was one of my favorites. We had fish curry served with white rice and some homemade roti canai (flat bread). So tasty to dip the roti in the curry sauce! For dessert, we had sweet potato pie and oolong tea.

HAPPY LUNAR NEW YEAR - Day 14 meal

While our celebration of the 2021 Lunar New Year is nearing an end, the meals of delicious Singaporean foods keep on coming. The meal tonight consisted of fried shrimp with cashew nuts, and beef with oyster sauce served over white rice. For dessert, we had homemade sweet potato pie and oolong tea.

HAPPY LUNAR NEW YEAR - Day 13 meal

Tonight's meal was really special! We had world famous Singapore Black Pepper Crab. It was so good! To accompany the main course, we had a delicious bowl of won ton soup. We finished off the meal with a bowl of lycee-ginger ice and a hot cup of oolong tea.

Another beautiful day, day 12 of the new lunar year. For tonight's meal, we had Mo-Po Tufu over rice, with pork-stuffed bean churd sheet rolls, and stir fried enoki mushrooms. Ummm, so good!

HAPPY LUNAR NEW YEAR - Day 11 meal

After a gorgeous day, we sat down to a beautiful meal on this eleventh day of the lunar new year. Tonight's meal was the world famous Singapore chicken rice (which, btw, I won a blue ribbon with at the Katy Rice Harvest Festival a number of years ago.) We accompanied the main course with a nice bowl of fish ball soup and finished it with a dessert of lycee-ginger ice.

HAPPY LUNAR NEW YEAR - Day 9 meal

Continuing our celebration of the Lunar New Year, for last night's meal on day 9 of the new year, we had a wonderful combination of kway teow, spring rolls, and a cup of delicious egg drop soup. The meal was finished off with a nice hot cup of oolong tea.

HAPPY LUNAR NEW YEAR - Day 8 meal

For tonight's meal, we had the traditional Singaporean dish of nasi lemak. It consists of rice cooked in coconut milk and topped with ikan bilis, fried peanuts, and sambal. This was accompanied by otak, fried eggs, and fried curry bao. This dish can also be eaten as breakfast. After the meal, we had orange slices, famous Singapore pineapple tarts, and a nice cup of hot tea. What a great way to close the week! Ummm, so delicious!

Happy Lunar New Year - Day 7 Meal

For tonight's meal, we had baked silkie chicken served over rice. No, the chicken is burned. The skin of the silkie chicken is black, it has a blue beak, fluffy feathers, and five toes on each foot, instead of the usual four; and it is delicious! The rice had the added intredients of red bell pepper, garlic, onion, ginger, and Singapore curry powder. After the meal, we had some homemade lycee-ginger ice and a cup of oolong tea.

Happy Lunar New Year - Day 5 meal

For our meal on day 5 of the Lunar New Year, we had Chinese Porridge with chicken topped with fried onions, ginger, sesame oil, and soya sauce. The soup was accompanied by salted duck eggs, and century eggs.

Happy Lunar New Year - Day 4 meal

Despite being without power for more than 2 days, we continued to enjoy our Lunar New Year meals.

Day 4 meal consisted of crab soup topped with a little balsamic vinegar and accoumpanied by Chinese scallion pancakes.
