Community... that's what's on my mind
Community...what a comforting, inspiring, hopeful word.
Community, my definition, a place in time and in space that can be warm, personal, nurturing and safe.
Community, doesnt have to have a defined geological boundary. It can be a classroom, an office workspace, a church, a school, a park, even, a facebook post.
In this trying time, the positive energy, enthusiasm, attitude, courage, and strength found in a loving community can propel a whole people into a new place, a welcoming, imaginative, thoughtful, open place where new ideas arent derisive but debated and history doesn't get repeated cause it's taught.
Going backward because you're afraid of whats ahead is not how we've survived the last 248 years. A small community of minds gave birth to an idea that has been the envy of the world.
Now a bully, A rich, boorish, small, selfish man and a community of the same, now stand between that original purposeful group of imaginative and courageous Americans and our future.
Paraphrasing a famous line from a favorite President, We have nothing to fear but the little minds and selfish attitudes of a community thats lost it's way.
My mother and father taught us that the world only spins one way. It goes forward!
The community I grew up in, only goes forward. The country I grew up in, only goes forward. The ideas and attitudes of a vibrant, unafraid, unselfish people propels itself forward.
Why are we assembled around this campfire becoming fearful of the dark when we can each light a torch and carry it before us.
Ours is not a perfect world, ours is not a perfect time, it is however, our time and so its up to us, my community, to make the future something to look forward to and not afraid of.
I got a good community...I inherited it!!!
