Slap's BBQ Slap’s BBQ is Kansas City’s award winning BBQ team serving up only phenomenal BBQ and now shipping nationwide.

Slap’s BBQ (Squeal Like a Pig) opened in June of 2014 and started with just a few hundred pounds of meat. After running out within a few hours, we knew Slap’s was going to be a major success. As the weeks went on, we added more and more meat to the daily production finally reaching our capacity and comfort level a couple months after opening. We sell out every day because we are committed cooking fresh and putting the best BBQ on the plate we can. Slap’s BBQ is one of very few restaurants in the City that is actively competing on the KCBS circuit throughout the year. On average we compete in 25-35 contests each season. We do this to stay sharp, relevant, and because we love it. Try our famous ribs and burnt ends that always run out within our first hour, or our imported Texas sausage to get a mouthful of amazing flavor. Although we try to serve as many customers as possible, we’re only open until we run out daily so be sure to get here early! For finger lickin’ goodness, we’ll see you at Slap’s!

There's a reason this day of the week gets people excited around here.

We take a cut most places would just serve on its own, crisp it up a different way, and build a taco around it with fresh vegetables, herbs, a squeeze of citrus, and a house-made sauce nobody outside our kitchen gets to see the recipe for.

Half an hour before we open, this is what the place looks like...

Dishes are getting knocked out, brisket is being trimmed, catering orders are being prepped, and sides, sauces, and fried items are all coming together at once.

The smokers have been running since early morning, and our pit crew was here at 5:30 to make sure everything is ready when the doors open.

It takes a lot of hands to make a plate of barbecue look easy, and we wanted you to see the people behind it.

Decided to knock the rust off and cook a bbq competition before the 2 biggest contest of the year. Come to find out there wasn’t much rust!!!

We cooked at the Shawnee Great Grillers here in town and boy is this always a great comp!

We finished:

1st in chicken with a perfect 180
4th in ribs
9th in Pork
13th in brisket
And 3rd overall with a 710!!! We actually tied for 2nd and lost the tie break but that’s bbq!

Congrats to Dr. Squealgood BBQ and Brew 'N' Bar B Que on the RGC and to all the others who got their name called!

Next two weeks are why we cook competition bbq! The American Royal World Series of Bbq and The Jack Daniel’s!
