Town Topic's 1900 Baltimore Ave location now has new hours starting Thursday, June 4th. We will now open at 7:00am all seven days of the week! We are also extending our hours during the weekends to be open until 9pm!

I want to thank Councilman Crispin Rea and Araceli Magana for taking the time to meet with us yesterday. We had a very productive conversation. I did not reach out to Mr. Rea, in fact, he reached out to me and he showed up for us. We have the upmost appreciation for them taking the time out of their day to show that they are listening and care for the well-being of our restaurant, staff, and customers.
I also want to thank everyone for their support and apologize for any chaos that our post may have created yesterday. Sometimes given unfavorable circumstances, businesses have to evolve and that is really what we are doing. It will be a difficult transition, but a good one and hopefully we will be better for it. Won’t it be great someday, if we can all stand out front of Town Topic and be able to hear the sound of the Royals in their new stadium. We can’t wait.

We hope to have delivery starting sometime next week! We will keep everyone updated.

To our Kansas City Community and Customers,

We are temporarily adjusting our hours in order to reevaluate how we are going to move forward in a way that is safe for our staff, customers, and community. Until further notice, the Town Topic 2021 Broadway location will be closing at 8pm instead of being open 24 hours. This has deeply disheartened our staff and company as a whole.
We have pleaded with the police department and crossroads over the years to help support and secure the area around our restaurant. Unfortunately, we have not received adequate support to make this happen. We have exhausted all of our resources in an attempt to keep Town Topic safe for our staff, customers, and community. Unruly crowds that loiter in the unstaffed and unsecured corner lot next to Town Topic, where the shooting on April 26th occurred, have increased safety concerns and budgets over the last years. We have reached a point where we don’t feel comfortable to serve our customers during overnight hours. Over the years, we have attempted in multiple ways to keep the lot next to us secure, but since the empty lot is owned by an out of state company, we have been unable to do so. It has become increasingly frustrating that the out of state company profits off of the Kansas City community with no regard for the safety of the surrounding neighborhood.

* Also, we want to note that we are not putting blame on the police who are working every day for all of us around the city. We have the upmost appreciation and respect for their service, especially our off-duty police officers and the KCPD central division who are on the streets and working for our greater community. *

Town Topic has no control over who or how many people come to our restaurant. We have taken every measure to secure our property for our customers at great thought and expense. After all, we are just serving our customers and community burgers and shakes as we always have. Our hope is to take time to reassess our situation and find a safer way to operate during the overnight hours. We are forever thankful for the continued support from our customers, who have made Town Topic into what is today. Our number one priority is to provide a safe place for those customers, our staff, and the community who have supported us for the past 89 years.
