Duck & Roll is an authentic Hong Kong style Chinese restaurant. We have a small but dedicated team which will expand as we grow our local following after launching in 2020. We are looking for a chef with a passion for Asian cuisine and who has experience with wok cooking. Duck & Roll has the opportunity to build on our loyal following through precise ex*****on of recipes and ensuring balance and flavor are achieved in every dish.
This role has a significant degree of autonomy and is responsible for prep and ex*****on during service. You must be comfortable working with a small team, at times on your own and demonstrate commitment and enthusiasm for the concept we are developing. As is expected with a Chinese restaurant, the majority of our sales are delivery and carry out so there is a small team that is relevant to the volume we see throughout the day.
You must have previous Asian cuisine experience and be competent in wok cooking.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
* Ensure all food preparation meets health, safety and quality standards
* Prepare and present delicious food consistent with recipe and plating standards
* Ensure a clean and tidy kitchen environment with appropriate food storage and inventory management
* Daily Prep and Service of food
* Control costs by ensuring portion control, waste minimization
* Manage equipment cleaning and maintenance schedule
* Assist other staff wherever necessary and maintain good working relationships
* Comply with fire regulations and all health and safety and food safety legislation
* Be environmentally aware
QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:
* Minimum 3 years experience in a restaurant kitchen role
* Experience in an Asian cuisine restaurant preferred

* Excellent communication skills
* Food Handlers Permit, Food Manager Certification
* Ability to work under pressure
* Proof of eligibility to work in the US
* Ability to read and follow a recipe
* Ability to understand both written and spoken English
* Be able to work in a standing position for long periods of time (minimum of 8 hours a day)
* Be able to reach, bend and frequently lift up to 50 pounds
