💜✨ Looking for Dementia Resources? We’ve Got Something You Should Know About.

If you’ve been to Mistaken Orders™, you already know how powerful a simple breakfast can be — joy, connection, memory, and a whole lot of “Wait… did I really order that?” moments.

But behind the fun, families are navigating dementia every day, and they deserve support that actually makes life easier.

So, while Mistaken Orders™ is our program…
We also want you to know about a new national dementia initiative that launched in 2024, but few know about and will run for eight years:

The Medicare GUIDE Program
This isn’t our service — but it’s something every dementia‑supporting family should have on their radar.
It focuses on:
- Respite support
- Care navigation
- Dementia‑trained care teams
- Help coordinating medical and community services

Think of it as a roadmap for families who feel overwhelmed, stretched thin, or unsure where to start.

💛 Why We’re Sharing It
Because our mission isn’t just to host meaningful events — it’s to make sure families in Kankakee County know what resources exist, what’s changing, and what support is available beyond our walls.

😄 And yes… a little cheekiness

🍂 Weather is changing — and for someone living with dementia, that shift can feel bigger than we realize.

Cool mornings, darker evenings, and unpredictable fall days can increase confusion, anxiety, and restlessness. Even small changes in routine or temperature can make the world feel “off” for them.

A few gentle reminders as we head into fall:
• Keep lighting consistent as days get shorter
• Layer clothing to avoid discomfort from sudden temperature drops
• Offer reassurance when the weather feels different or unfamiliar
• Stick to routines — they help anchor the day

Our loved ones may not be able to explain what feels “wrong,” but we can help make the transition softer.
