At 2:00 a.m. this morning, the music stopped, the bottles and coolers were empty, and for the final time, the lights went out at Dave’s Bar.
And damn, did you guys send her out right.
Last night was everything Dave’s BAR could have hoped for.
The parking lot was packed. The patio was full. Inside was asses to elbows with the kitchen slammed. The music was loud, and there was laughter everywhere, hugs from people we’ve known for years, stories being told, selfies and Snapchats, drinks being raised, and one hell of a party happening inside our weird little hidden bar out back.
It was busy. It was vibrant. It was loud, and it was chaotic.
It was Dave’s BAR
And standing there last night, looking around at all of you, it was impossible not to feel overwhelmed by what this place became.
For five years, you gave Dave’s a life of its own.
You brought your families. You brought your friends. You celebrated birthdays and anniversaries. You sang karaoke, shot pool, danced, laughed, cried, raised money for people who needed it, watched games, made new friends and probably made a few decisions you’d rather not discuss publicly.
You gave us stories we’ll tell for the rest of our lives.
Last night wasn’t a funeral.
It was a celebration.
And there couldn’t have been a more perfect way to close this chapter.
To our staff, our regulars, our friends, our families, and every single person who ever walked through those doors, thank you.
Thank you for supporting us.
Thank you for believing in our crazy little hidden bar.
Thank you for the laughs, the loyalty, the friendships and the memories.
And thank you for showing up one final time and reminding Jess and me exactly why this place meant so damn much to us.
We walked out of Dave’s for the last time exhausted, emotional, incredibly proud, and with hearts absolutely overflowing with gratitude.
There are things in life you don’t fully understand the value of until you’re standing there saying goodbye.
Dave’s was one of them.
The doors may be closed, but what happened inside those walls belongs to all of us forever.
We will never forget last night.
We will never forget this place.
And we will never forget all of you.
Thank you,
Dave & Mrs Dave.
