A very fond and grateful farewell to our incredible customers. We will truly miss you all. Some of you have been part of our extended family for 18 years. It has been such an honor to be part of your celebrations and special family moments. What a gift.
To our spectacular staff in the front of the house and in the kitchen- you really soaked it all in and made memorable experiences. It was truly an honor working with you. We couldn't have done it without each and every one of you.
So incredibly proud of Jeremy and Brigida. Their hospitality skills started at an early age from cooking and opening rooms at Angels Landing to firefighters camped at the foot of our property, and then to our evacuated neighbors (several times). Volunteering at the town hall after the Cedar Fire for several weeks, knowing what all our friends and neighbors were about to go through. Jeremy making extra food for the Mennonites who were rebuilding in our community - and look what it all led to. It was so much more than talent and dreams. Vision, commitment and a lot of work.
Many of our long time customers remember Jeremy's sister, my
daughter Brigida Rasmussen, who became a Certified Level II Sommelier and was instrumental in leading the front of the house to provide a level of service rarely experienced in the backcountry. Brigida also joined her husband, Farmer Josh, growing fresh produce while working at Jeremy's. She cultivated working with local wineries while Jeremy worked with farmers Brigida taught wine classes and delighted customers with her wine knowledge. She departed several years to start her family and join her husband making Julian Naturals. Amazing in every way and oh do I adore my two grandsons.
I left the restaurant (physically) several months ago and David and I bought Julian Mining Company - a few doors down from Jeremy's - and we moved Mom and Dad here too.
And Jeremy, just wow! At the age of 21, you turned a forgotten restaurant into a thriving celebration destination restaurant for the past 17 years and brought a level of food no one expected in the back country. You are truly a visionary We started with furnitire from Angles Landing and a small line of credit at Home Depot and American Express. No startup, loans or savings account-just the commitment and love of family, vision and an incredibly talented Chef.
Too many accomplishments and awards to list, but I am forever proud of your generosity in the kitchen offering work and training to so many locals and students; so many fundraisers and donations to support our community; the farm to table school lunch program; the COVID meal delivery program in Julian, Ramona, Warner Springs and Borrego. And we must mention Mom and Dad, Jeremy and Brigida's grandparents, who believed in us from the very beginning.
We are all so excited to see where the next chapters lead for you Jeremy and your beautiful new wife. Thank you for bringing so much joy to so many people.
